I dont get these "whats it worth" threads..........

One mans treasure is another mans junk.........

What difference does it make what you paid, are you happy with your purchase??
Did you just buy it to resell??

Are you just bragging because you think you have something rare??

Its worth whatever the next guy will pay.

How about we start a" what isnt it worth thread"..........

To the guys who gave me a straight answer, thank you for your answers. Yes there was actual car parts at Barrie this year. I only saw one guy selling socks and one guy selling phones. To the guys who are crying "these whats it worth threads suck", guys like you are the reason than a lot of young guys turn to imports instead of hot rods. I ask a simple question & I get blasted by 75% of the people who respond. Who wants to deal with attitudes like that? Thank goodness that most of the car guys I meet face to face are good guys & not a bunch of keyboard tough guys like most of you seem to be. If assholes could fly, this place would be an airport!

Mods, Feel free to lock or delete this thread as you see fit.

Oh, and BTW, I paid $360.00 for the lights.

Now, wouldn't that have been easier to post in the first thread instead of making it look like a fishing trip? You scratch our backs, we scratch yours, ya know? Neat lights though... ;)

Might have been better off asking what they were from...

Easy....People just like to see others get a good deal. Curiosity kills us all. Great find nonetheless.

  9. No guts, no glory!! They are worth big $$$ ($1000), so now tell us what you paid for them!

Just saw your post, $360 is a steal! Now that wasn't so hard was it!

Tower, vintagehotrods requesting permission to take off on runway 1932, over!!

Dude, if your issue is with the reaction of the people here on this board, then it's safe to say that it isn't about the lights. It's about posing, or being seen as posing. You didn't ask a valid question, you set this up like a mini game show, with you as the host.

I posted a thread on some lights I got once, never got any grief about it either, because I didn't play around, I just asked what they were and where they came from.

...and I think they're nice lights, I have no idea what they are worth, but I'm willing to bet it's far more than what you paid. Nice score.:)

Why are you buying things that may not be worth what you're paying. Unless you're a total tool....you should be able to notice that the wiring is fabric-covered - which (unless they are repops from the 30s) would make them original to something. I'd suggest instead of coming on here and phrasing your question like a major amateur, you should have asked - "anyone know what these might be off of?" As to the overwhelming grief you received (and deserved) you need to understand that most of us in the car hobby have an idea of what WE would (or could) pay, but there is no NADA blue book for used stuff. In order to determine what anything used or pre-owned is worth, one must track as many venues as there are that sell or vend those types of items. Appraisers do this - cars/homes/antiques/collectibles. And..you know what...pretty much value comes down to whatever that last buyer paid. In this case, that would be YOU...ergo....what you paid is now the current price for cast pot metal cool-ass retro-spazzola Art Deco headlights with bulbs. If you are able to determine what they were originally used on, they may have some collector/restorer interest to that end of the hobby. I can tell you that I peruse many swap meets, and I don't think I've ever seen a bucket like that. The nod to a running light or turn signal on top via a fake bulge is also interesting. Just for grins, get on line and look up STUTZ...the design on the side of the light reminds me a little bit of the helmet on the Stutz radiator cap...but...then again...I've got a headache, I'm out of coffee (which probably gave me the headache in the first place) and this thread seems to have run its course.

  14. So Toner, if a friend of yours was to walk up out of the blue and ask "do you think I got a good deal on the set of rims without giving you the price, what would have been your enlightened response?

If your looking for advice, direction, or have a question, offer up all the information you have and you will likely get a constructive response.

The BTW I paid $$$$ is cute.

Young guys turning to imports because imports are just easier and the young tend to be followers and lazy, not alot of us here give a shit what is trendy or popular today. Not alot of Posers here, you might find you fit in with the import crowd.

As for not looking like an idiot, I think you missed the mark.

Nice lights what are your plans, what are they going on?

I never met anyone that turned to imports because guys were bustin thier balls.. usually its cause they like them to begin with, can pick on up cheap..not have to worry about bustin thier ass to do body work and scrounging up old parts and they like that stupid fart can sound..totally the other side of the spectrum then the type of cars we mess with.. as far as the lights..they are cool..360 to you might seem like great deal, and so you bought them..shouldnt you be happy with that? what you pay for today, reguardless of what it cost will only add to the car you build when its finished.. details..its about the little details of what makes a car up..stick em on your car, step back and look at it..then you decide if you got a good deal..

This mentality is in all forms of pastime interests and hobbies, young and old. There is ALWAYS the group of people that are more interested in the hunt because of perceived value and bragging rights. Competitive pursuits to out score their peers. Whatever..... If you bought them because you dig them and your wallet is pretty much in tact, then who cares?!

If your looking for a return on your money, get into gold or maybe Elvis plates.

you bought them to use? Then I would say they are worth $360.
If you are selling them to me they are worth $150 (you can PM me for shipping address)
Bought them to ebay....nobody really knows the true value...it just depends who wants them I guess.
Bottom line is ...do you feel like you got screwed on a really cool looking set of headlights? If not....then good!

I had an excellent set of these I sold about 2 years ago. They just wansn't my thing. Too big for the smaller cars. Looked like giant bug eyes. They were featured in one of the big mags a while back on some car some guy built. Mine were still chrome with no pitting. They are from American Lafrance firetrucks around 30's or 40's. They are pretty rare lights, but what someone pays or what someone buys them for who cares. Someone is already recasting them so I think the value is starting to drop.

That didn't go over well did it?

Electroline Series 2200's were used on larger trucks in the 30's and 40's, La France Firetrucks seem to be the most common application that I've found.

Are you selling? Asking Price? Send PM.

Most common application (that I know of) was commercial trucks in the 30's, seems La France Firetrucks used a lot of them.

    Interested in selling? email me,

Electroline's were originally used on LaFrance firetrucks in the 30's.

There were apparently 2 styles, ones with marker lights and ones like your's without.

Strangely the ones without the marker lights are rarer because they made less of them but the ones with the marker lights are more desirable.

You hit the jackpot with yours. They routinely go for anywhere between $1000-$1200 a pair and as high as $2000 if they're fully chromed.
