Check out what i did this weekend and let me know what ya think. Its on the wall of a friends shop.........JAMIE
ok two posts and it sitll aint' working. Edit this post and try different things instead of creating new posts. how big is the file? Are you uploading it?
anybody have any suggestions or comments on the flames? im tryin 2 get better lol................jamie w
the only thing i see is the very circular spot that you seem to be staring at. otherwise it looks kick ass!
You should be able to get that flame thing down with a little practice. How about comming over and practicing on my wife's '40 coupe when we get it ready? Looking good Frank
Nice lookin' flames...I took a workshop from Craig Frazier where he emphasized the use of "negative space"...you have used the negative space well in your flame job. I think that you will have your hands full if you ever start on HAMBers cars, the guys appear to be lining up!
yeah, I forgot to mention that I love how you used the base color as another set of flames as well. you dont have to listen to anything I say, all I do is draw them in my notebooks.
I'm hoping to get Jamie to throw some lines on my T if he & his dad head back to LA for the Rat Fink Party.

.........awwww........I knew him when he was just a "kid!" Lookin' GREAT Dude. I knew you had the desire. It shows that you also have the talent and the dedication!!!
Jamie, Looks good to me. I personally try to avoid flames on a shop wall but its just a carma thing for me. Had a shop burn once with me and my ride in it. we got out, scorched but survived. ooops OT sorry. You are gonna put a nasty skull with a 13 in its mouth in the circular whith spot aren't you? (its a '60s thing I guess ). Anyway smooth paint bro.
Oh I'm serious! Looking forward to meeting you & your dad. Sorry I missed ya this year but I had a little honeymoon to go on and I couldn't get the wife to pass up an Alaskan Cruise for a car show... even when I tossed in the possibility of sleeping in Beccas hearse.
[ QUOTE ] anybody have any suggestions or comments on the flames? im tryin 2 get better [/ QUOTE ] hey man... they are some seriously good flames... but you asked for comments, so here they come! some of your flames have a "back-lick" (for example the very far left, and also just near the top), but there are only four or five of these in the whole piece. one of the most important things to make flames look good is to make sure the THEME runs through the whole thing fluidly. i think, on this piece, you needed either more, OR NONE, of the backlicks to make it look just right. the other guys are right, your use of negative space (making the white background a set of flames in itself) is excellent. you can take that effect to a whole new level by extending the tips of those licks right over the top of the coloured section back INTO the white, with just a pinstriped outline to show the way. it's harder to plan, but it means the white (or background colour) set of flames escapes from the boundaries of the coloured set, and the whole thing just comes to life. i've attached an image that, unfortunately, only slightly demonstrates what i want it to... having said all that, they're just suggestions, and you should be happy with what ya got 'cause most people sure couldn't do that! keep practising, keep posting the results, and start doing it on people's cars! you'll be really popular...
