Exactly.....my wife and I found a mid '50's Built-Rite carriage for our son a few years ago....they are cool "as-is", no need to cut 'em up into something else.

  2. I can see it with a greasy 305 chivvy (don't fix the flattened out cam), hemi valve covers, 2 strombergs adapted to a stock intake, skull shifter knob . . .

Yeah, I saw one of those at a swap meet once... thought about buying it... then a friend reminded me that if I did the old lady would want to figure out something to put in it... I kept walking pretty fast!

perhaps because it is somewhat hot rod/car related due to the design of the carriage and as I recall there is quite a few topics discussed on this sight that are not "traditional" related.;)

I'm sure there are many out there saying the same thing about your hotrod....why didnt you leave it as it was designed and preserve that example of american history?

  10. Sounds good, until you sober up later - "why the hell did I buy that?!"

My parents had one of those when I was a baby. Where quite common at one point.

  12. Yeah, I'm kinda on the fence about it myself! I agree that this probably isn't the BEST place for posting a photo of a cool old baby carriage (but it does have bumpers and nice steelies and baby moon hubcaps) but it WOULD be cool to wheel a little kid around at a car show in it!!!

Just like the "dryer sheet" thread last week - I was laughing my a$$ off at my computer all day and it really didn't have much at all to do with hot rods. A little bit of fun ever now & then makes the day go by a lot better.

    Just my $0.02!!!

I bought one of the 1950's era strollers after taking the 1yr old grandson to a meet, using the brand new stroller the daughter gave us to use. About 5 feet into the meet, it became apparent that the little plastic rollers on the new one wasn't gonna cut it on gravel and unpaved grounds, plus the uneven surface was beating him silly. Got me an old one with the 10" wire wheels and buggy sprung suspension. The grandson got a smoother ride, and grandpa didn't end up carrying him.

One other benefit to the older ones is that the handles are actually metal. That allowed me to weld in a spacer, to lengthen them, so I didn't get a backache bending over to push it.

I've seen one, like is in this thread, at the antique store in Centerville(?) Indiana. It's been several years ago, but they had $2-300 on the price tag.

Here's some cool car inspired rides. Someone on the Metal Meet was building a swap meet hauler similar to one of these. Nice metal work on the first:D

Well, as neat as it is, I'd say refurb it, and SELL IT for profit to support your real hobby. Restore it to "like new" appearence, don't "hot rod" it. Like others have already said, it's a piece of history; and someone out there would really want it. An art deco baby buggy, have I seen it all yet? But, what do I know? Butch/56sedandelivery.

Yeah, but the point is, they should be. What's next, a discussion on the best diapers or how to lose weight once you've had the baby? This ain't Oprah. (Joke,KooDaddy).

It was found at a swap meet, good enough for me and it is cool, none the less. Get over it. Maybe he'll take his kid grandkids in the future to a car show with it.

If you've looked at his public profile:
62 Falcon, 67 Nova, 92 Blazer but maybe that's changed?
