  1. I was out flying my R/C plane behind the shop today and stumbled on what looks like a 29 Es***. The body is in pretty good shape. So I call my dad to come see this thing and while we were looking at it this woman approached us."Can I help you with something ?" she says. "Hi, I was just curious as to what this was". Then the ***** replied "well curiosity killed the cat, your tresp***ing!". I was trying to be nice and said I was sorry I didnt see any sign, but then she said "well Its not any of your business to be back here". That fired me off and I decided to get ugly. I mean ,**** my shop is only about a 100 feet from this thing and the city is always on our *** about the vehicles that we have in our lot that is fenced in where you cant see them and this damn Es*** is out in the open with no fence around it and no sign posted. So I say "if your so damn worried about people looking at this piece of **** then get a no tresp***ing sign". Then she said "I suggest you leave our Im going to call the police". "Call them" I said, as she was walking back to her home thats been converted from a construction trailer. I asked her If she lived there and she said yes. "Thats funny, this whole area is zoned commercial, you shouldnt be living there". "Call them", "call them" I said as she shuts the door. They never came, so I buzzed her trailer with my plane the rest of the day.

I stopped once to look at a 54 chevy that was parked in a driveway near a house.

I go knock on the door to ask about it, and get no reply. I hear a tv being turned off. I intended to leave a note for them, but went over to take a quick look at the car to decide if it was even worth it. I walk over near the car, and some white trash chick comes barrelling out the house screaming how I shouldn't be on someone's private property and all this ****. I tell her i'm sorry, I knocked on the door, and I was interested in buying the chevy. Her tune changed quick when she found out I was interested in giving her money. Pretty funny. Had to back off the car though, I couldn't afford it even though it was a great deal. Anyhow, I was in the wrong being in their yard, but I thought it was strange of her to not come to the door.

Sometimes you get lucky. That's how I found my '68 Wagoneer, just by driving around, keeping an eye out, and not being afraid to knock on the door and ask.

I'd go back in a couple of days and apologize just for the fun of it...Hell, buy her some flowers and a bottle of wine...Romance the Stone holmes!

Well she could have been nicer but you were tresp***ing and people shouldn't need a sign for you to know that you don't have any right to do that. So you come on somebody elses land, then get pissy when they don't like it and then buzz her house for the rest of the day with your rc plane? Grow up

  11. If the area is zoned commercial go to the local Chamber Of Commerce to find out who the property owner is.Then see if you can make an offer.Judging by the junk laying there they
would probably be glad to get rid of it.The old bird is more than likely just renting anyway.

Hate disagree of this but I think he handled about as well as you could. If the ***** is so worried about it post the land. Sounds like he tried to be nice to her and she went off. I admit the buzzing her house was a little much, but it was funny. There are a lot of people who think they can be rude for no reason. F#ck them.

    Too right. [IMG]

Cordless sawzall in those two spots near the windshield should make it into two doors, one cowl, and the rest of the body, then voila, onto the trailer and away she goes to your buddy's garage. LOL And I'll bet when *****ypoo gets back from the grocery store and getting her back waxed that she won't even notice it's missing. [IMG] [IMG]

It never ceases to amaze me how some people will let things rot to **** but will not p*** them along even though they know full well that they won't be doing anything with them. Plus, If you've got something curious around your house, shop, or yard people are gonna stop and ask you about it so if a person is not looking for that kind of attention, then garage it or cover it or put a sign on it like I see on some near the side of the rode here in TX that say "Car Is Not For Sale".

  18. You haven't got any right to h***le her. She let you know your presence was not wanted. She has her reasons whether you agree with them or not. People have the right to be left alone.
How do you think a lone woman encountering two strange men snooping around her place in an otherwise deserted area is going to react? You were a threat to her and your subsequent behaviour only confirmed that.

    You were in the wrong.

OK guys, this is definitely a two sided situation but you kinda have to know what parts of Texas and rural Texas are like to appreciate this situation.

Yes, we are territorial too, as far as tresp***ing goes, but if we find a person does not have nefarious intentions then a Texan expects another Texan to be polite no matter who's land you are on. I know it seems like a weird social contract to those of you in the north east and west coast because I've had to explain this to friends from those places before. But being polite to anyone short of the guy actually breaking into your car is sort of expected in a lot of places down here and we tend to get offended if someone is rude when we were not, or had no bad intentions ourselves.

I hope this helps a bit in shedding light on the sitch.

And just so you know, my stealing the car post was a joke in case I didn't use enough smileys.

  20. I have a NO Tresp***ing sign on my shop front and one on my roadster parked in front.....sounds wacky does it not?
But you would not believe the carloads of "visitors" you get who will stop and pilfer around in and over everything that is not concealed .
We proprety owners have the right to say if thats OK or not.
It is not OK in a lot of cir***stances and without that we are in the situation a lot of people in large citys are in-whereas they no longer have control of their own property as a result of this activity being allowed so long the people who do this dont even consider ownership a factor in their curiosity.
I like to look at old tin as much as the next guy-BUT there are policies and techniques that can be implemented to do it in a lawful and considerate manner.

  21. as a further deterrent to this activity......
Here in rural Missouri ,its a common practice to keep a shotgun handy that has shells reloaded with [salt in place of shot],[used for keeping dogs out of your livestock and other things]......It is not at all out of the question that you yourself may be subjected to this Missouri "remedy". It appears that rudeness reigns supreme on both sides of the fence in Carrolton TX.

A lot of it is how you approach the owner. X-g***er you dent do it right. If you come up my driveway and say something stupid, like--"Hay, Are these old cars for sale?" (hey STUPID, Do you see a 'for sale' sign?) I WILL run you off and not politely either. If you come up and say, "I love old cars", I will talk to you all day and help you any way I can.

Hopefully the old bag chokes on her false teeth and the old tin goes to someone who deserves it. I hate people who let stuff sit out and rot just so someone else doesent get it.

Respect, I know it sounds old fashoned, but back in the 1950's when I was growing up we were tought that. The property lines were pointed out clearly, so was the street, you never went poking around on someone elses property. So what if someone has something in the yard that they won't sell to you, or anyone else for that matter. That Es*** sure isn't worth the the trouble, if the owner wants it as yard art then leave them alone. [IMG]

  28. Well this morning I got up and went over there to find out the owner of the car. The woman was polight this time and told me that it belonged to a plumber near by. So I stopped by and talked to him about it. Told him what happened yesterday and he laughed about it. Turns out she is his sister in law. You see, he sided with me and did apoligize for her rude behavior. 3 years ago my boss owned all of the land back there including where this car is sitting. When he sold it this plumber found this thing over on the property by the rail road tracks. His crew removed it and placed it over on PUBLIC PROPERTY. His mistake, he admitted, BUt he thought the way it was positioned next to a shed that no one including the city would never see it.He didnt have a place on his property for it. I`ve been in this hobby for over 30 years and I know the tresp***ing laws in this state. What would you do you lame ***, you dont even know the full set of cir***stances in this case. Tell me to grow up? Let me tell you this, I bought this damn car for 50.00 bucks and ate breakfast with the sister in law and Im in the process of teaching her son the joys of flying R/C. He is enjoying it... Ill post pics of the car soon.
