You might be surprised How LIGHT it is......2 MEN....can move my 3W body.

Never saw a 32 dash done that way, it would have to be a solid way to indentify the car as the one in the earlier photos.....

I have been a 32 fellow for many years and it might surprised you to KNOW how many folks have owned that 5 window. I do not know any history on that 5W ..but I know of one that has changed hands almost a dozen times....in the past 25 years, had lots of money spent on it and NEVER turned a wheel under it's own power. :(

STOP the cycle on this one.......and get it running....... :D

Look at the door and below on the one 2manybillz posted. It sure looks like the same car.

  4. same thought i had, spend some time compairing them...my guess it they are the same, now for josh to find more history, sell that nailhead and get a hemi....btw josh, i might know where a hemi is for sale...

  5. I have to say, they do look very close. the dash is going to be the teller.

My pop's 5 window is pretty much channeled just like that and the bottom of the body below the doors was done the same way. Those two cars look to have the same dimension of space under the door. My Pops is not that tall.

BTW - How's the wagon running??? I forgot about retreiving the hubcap until this morning while I was on my way in. I'll have to ride by there tonight and see if its there.

All I know so far about the History that it had a Desoto hemi and it said Desoto on the valve covers. It also was supposed to have had a 1/4" thick diamond plate fire wall.

Deuceroadster is probably on to something that it has probably been all over creation and back.

I would leave the doors alone. Some vehicles have interesting evolutionary shit that happens. example My shovel has a dog chain for a brak pedal stop. Everyone asks why I don't replay. Why because it has been there for years, I'm sure it was done for a reason, It works, and a bit different. It's part of the evolutionary history of the vehicle.

OK I see what you mean. I would like the doors to be like that more than the way they are. The doors on my Pops channeled 5 window are like the same way as the body I just got and 2manybillz car.

But Maybe its the "Trad" way to do it!!!! :) It wouldn't be too hard to change. We'll see. Anyone else seen the doors done like that before?

I'd like it unchanneld myself, but who knows what kind of work it would be to put the bottom back on. I suppose anything is possible with patch panels.

Thanks Plowboy - I am no longer a Hater.

  11. IMHO - It would be worth the effort.

As cool as it is, it isn't Milner's coupe or anything, it's just an old body. You say you need some practice with a MIG but from what I've seen you do nice work. Given that, I say do with it what you want.

  12. You're right Jim, I could just set it there and work on her for a while. I'll bet you can get the bottom 6" of patch panels or make what you need all the way around. Highboy is the way to go in my Opinion.

Who knows - we'll see when she gets up here. I sent 2manybillz a PM, I'd love to see if he has any pictures of the dash.

I am also going to get the contact info for the person the body came from 2 guys ago, apparently he had it a while.

    I can't flipping wait.

I would not touch the car until you found out the history on it, does the owner have any pics of when the car was on the road, you need to ask and get them now while you can. when was it originally hotrodder..

That has to be the same car! Both bodies are missing the body line at the bottom of the body.

I'm going to hit you in the head with a 364 4bbl intake if you don't stop using the word "Trad."

And for what it's worth, it's your car now. Someone made it a hot rod 45 years ago, and it's been apart, dismantled and its parts scattered across the country. There's no real good reason you need to put it back the way it was.
If it was a barn find, had never been apart, or was a "significant" car that was in several magazines and a regular award winner at big regional shows, then I can see restoring it to the way it was originally built. This is just a bare body. Do what you want, build it to your tastes, and have a blast cruising in your Deuce 5-window.
    You bastard!

If it truly is 2many's old car and you would rather have an unchannelled car. Don't you think it would be better to start with a car with the doors in tact? Sell it to 2many and get a body that suites your needs.

  18. HE SCORES!!

Yeah, it's doable. My roadster was that rough/good.
Subframe, crossmembers, floor panels from B'ville. Roadster fender wells a la George Poteet's black 5W. Check the build on the Fastlane site. Glass firewall over flat sheet metal. Hardest part would be to fab up the door bottoms, but look back for the thread on re-building some roadster doors. Skins from the beltline down are out there.

Your neighborhood's too nice for that kind of junk anyway; set it out by the curb with the trash and I'll come get it.

Very nice......... Its YOURS now, build YOUR car. Bill

  20. Hey Brad!!! :) - I only do it cause I think its so damn funny. Trad Trad Trad!!!

ha. You should have never told me about that being the smart ass I am.

We'll see how she looks on a my frame like she is. I can see both sides of the fence. My car /doing what I want and leaving it as it is. It would certainly be less work to just put a floor in it. I am for that. If 2manybillz has some documentation we'll talk.

    thanks Ahotrod!

I just have to get it the garage, and check her out, feel her up some. One cool thing is my Pops has actually gotten on here to check this thread out. We may have a new FNG Grey Hair (his ain't all grey yet) to tell us stories.

I told him to be carefull and not get hooked. Probably too late. I'll have to let him know about the intrduction. Maybe.

  22. Here is a PM I received fom 2ManyBillz, He said I could share it,

"Hey Josh, Good find and good luck with it whatever way you go. I wouldn't worry about keeping that way, if you don't want it channeled fix it and put a floor in it, I'm sure the pieces are available, a luxury I didn't have 40 years ago. The body I had had the cowl cut out at the vent for injector clearance and then welded back in. Also one of the doors, I don't remember which, I re-skinned from the edge of the side moulding down, would be easy to see on the inside. I don't remember folding the inside bottom of the doors that crudely but hey, I was 17! I didn't have rebar in the top but mine did oilcan (boing) sometimes when you hit bumps. Also the back panel and decklid and the back quarters were in pretty good shape, looks like yours was crunched and then molded in. Mine didn't have a ford firewall, I used 3/4" plywood skinned with 1/8" aluminum. O yeah, no original dash either, I made a flat dash with 3 gages in it. Like I (and others) said, if it was some important historical piece maybe keep it as is but even if it was mine, it's yours now so make it yours. Hell, I probably wouldn't build one the same again, I'd try to make it better. Mine was channeled because the floor was gone and the lower panels were rotted off from sitting in the mud. I wanted a hot rod and scrounged whatever I could find. Speaking of dads, when I brought my body home, my dad said "you paid $75.00 for that piece of junk?" Again good luck, if you find that cowl vent or door skin let me know. We're not too far apart, hope to meet you, maybe this summer. Only bummer, my company is closing our shop in Feb. I may have to move for work. Bill"

Neat story of an old car. Sounds like it is most likely a different car, but who knows.
My Pop got the car on a trailer and to the house last night. Eagle should be landing Saturday at the latest.

Pop says the thing is damn heavy. Its got to be all that Bondo.

Sounds like one guy in Brunswick has had this thing in his gargage for close to 20 years, then just wanted it out for the room since he was going to rebuild a 50's MG he had. He just didn't want it to sit in someone else's garage for another 15 years.

    I post more pics then.

  23. Check out this email I got from my Dad this morning -
The Copper Coupe is in the carport. Adjusted the tongue on the trailer lower 3 times last night while I was working outside to

try to get the "attitude" right - sits a little nose high on the trailer. Was up looking at it through the back door window @ 4:00am.

Nice chop - leans more toward slammed than conservative. It will look even more chopped w/ a windshield frame installed - believe I would buy a non-chromed stock height frame since you are going to have to cut whatever you buy anyway and that gives more to work with. Driver door has pretty even gaps. I like it!

That's cool, I think he's in love - almost feel bad taking it from him. He'll just have to let me keep his finished Duece while he build this one.
