Ok this is kinda a long story. See I have been looking for a convertible for a few months now and had a few deals fall thru. I flew down to the GG Ft. Worth show and ran across this 36. I took a ton of pics and talked to the guy a few times, I just could not pull the trigger. Flew home and was telling the wife about how much I like the car yada yada yada.... Well Thursday rolls around and I get the stones to call and buy the car. Call the dude..... "Sorry man, It's SOLD". Now I am pissed cause it seems like have this black cloud of car buying floating over me. All day Friday I am brewing......I get home Friday and stay up late looking for a ride. I find this car that I think I can do (not really what I wanted but hey). Anyway, our son is up sick at 2am Sat. morning. The wife and I are up talking and I show her this new ride I am looking at. She say "Yeah its nice but the only problem I see is it wont fit in the garage with a 36." I say "Why do you want to be like that! You know I am pissed that I missed that car!" Conversion goes on and I say I'm going to call on the car I found online. She say "I still don't think it will fit in the garage with a 36." Now I getting a little pissed and I say "Look he sold that car." This is where she says " Yeah I know I bought it." Do what? Hold the boat? WTF?....... "if you bought it, it would show in our account". She says "Huh, lets check online and see" Sure enough the money was missing. I did not know what to say... .what could I say. I have the COOLEST wife out there. She had called the guy and bought the car. She told the seller that I would probably be calling and to tell me it was SOLD. She want it be a surprise waiting in the garage but she was afraid I would buy the other car online if I did not know. How cool is this. I have known for several days but did not want to jinx the deal in anyway. So here it is in all its glory. You can see it in KIRK's post about FT.Worth GG. I think its the second pic. I love my wife and family and this is just the coolest thing to happen to me EVER. Still don't see what she sees in me. Carter aka Toad32 (which I guess I will change to Toad36)
Sheet I'm given this to my wife also ..Xmas is right around the cornor would be nice to have someting like this under the tree.... Best of Luck with your new ride!!!
Eric from Sachse here.... I'm glad Mauldin wasn't succesful in talking you out of that beautiful car after all
Eric, it should be at your shop tomorrow morning. I am incredible stoked about this one... plus the she got the phone number off of one of the pics and called the dude. Let me know what you think of it when it gets there. Carter
Awsome story (wipes tear from eye) Beautiful car. So when is it going to be filling the space in the garage? In that second pic. it looks like an indian peeking out from inside the car. BR
There were only two vehicles at that show that really floored me. That car and a rat rod truck. You lucky, lucky mofo!
I know of ONE other wife as cool as yours. She drives a flamed 51 Victoria that has a flathead Merc with 3 carbs. She is the wife of a friend of mine, and he told me last year that he had to sell his 68 Camaro to make room in the shop for the 51 Ford woody his wife had just bought for a project car. IMHO,having a wife like that is better than winning the lottery.
what a story and what a wife. Im speechless. Love the car and your wife for what she did. Kudos to you!
Thanks guys! When she was telling me the story of how she had gone about it, I had to wipe tears from my eyes. Just to know some one loves you that much. PRICELESS. Thank GOD for my wife.
WOW, that is one special ride....and wife for that matter. Congrats on getting it. Only thing wrong with it, is it's not in my garage right now. Weather is SO nice down here this time of year. Tonite or this weekend would be perfect drop top time. Amazing how perfect the lines are on this body style, the boys in Detroit deserve an award. Sometimes I get sick of the whole black and red thing, but I can't think of a better color combo for this badd-ass ride. This honestly sounds like something my girlfriend would do for me, if I would just get off my lazy ass and relocate up to Virginia. JT
Man what a great story and a nice car, little too nice for me but definately a top class clean ride. If i remeber correctly the interior was just as clean, classicly clean.
About now I'm thinking I should look into stealing your wife away from you. The only problem is I have the worlds best wife, why should I be looking for anyone else. That said, your wife has got to be one awesome woman. Congrats on having her AND the new car. Frank
Now thats a nice story to start the week congratulations man, And your wife well what can we say but "WOW" how cool is she.
WOW! what a beauty ,everything about her is done sooo tasty. And by the way, nice car also. Congrats to the worlds luckiest toad. This story is ass-backward, the princess kissed the toad and turned into the hottest queen of all times. But the toad says, who gives a rat rods ass, check out my 36 cab. Rivett-Rivett Congrats to both of you, neat story. Sololobo
Man- what a wife. Shit, the car ain't half bad either but your statement toward the end sounds fishy. " Don't know what the wifes sees in me ?" Glad you didn't say you were hung because I'd say you aren't THAT lucky ! yuk-yuk-yuk...... seriously - nice car and post a picture of your wife so we can rib you that her taste in cars is a hell of a lot better than her taste in a man ! Gotta give you shit man ! Cob
Very, very, very nice car. It has been called a cabriolet in a couple of posts, but it looks like a roadster to me. Could we could some more info? Glass? Steel? Suspension? Engine? Air ride? How much chop? etc. Thanks, Rich
yeah , on her birthday be sure to thank the inlaws. if it wasn't for inlaws they're wouldn't be wives like that. makes proposing sound like a pretty good idea. that is absolutely an amazing ride. first class for sure.
