Sure wish I had found it first! 52 buick special convertible...been in a garage for 30 some years.....guy wants to build a street rod out of it. I put a 350/350 in it and a Nova rear end with parallell leafs...now it's back for a brake job..another guy dod the shaving of the portholes. Now if I had found this I really think I would have had to returned this beauty to it's original condition (and I never say that!)
what did that have originally?? straight 8? nuttin really wrong with a 350-350, though a nice big nailhead would be cooler but prolly cost twice as much.
Yep ...it had a REBUILT straight 8 with a dynaflush trans....he drove it around the block before pulling the engine and tranny!!!
Weve got a 51 buick more door parts car, with the big straight eight. Thats what I would keep in it...GHOST
I understand "to each there own" but wtf...shaving port holes from a early buick...thats the buick trademark! ugh
well..the 52 buick portholes were pretty ugly...we replaced a set on another guys 52 coupe with a set from a 55...much better. Anybody notice the trunklid is different?
I'm not much of a GM person but I do like those old Buicks. Stock. Like they used to was. I married a leSabre. Uh, I mean, my wife came with one. But that convertible ain't mine, guess the owner can do whatever with it. Dammit!
I had a 53 special a few years back and I was told that same year caddy decklid would fit and take the "bubble" out. Pretty nice looking old car. What set of leaf springs did you use?
yep the decklid is a 52 caddy...it's a little less humpy. I don't like the shackles hanging down but had to work with what I was given...the leafs are 69 nova monoleafs ...I had to build pockets in the frame for spring mounts. We may go with shorter springs in the future so I can move the shackles more under the car...but thats his call...he brings the cash!
This is a forum about hot rods.....I mean I understand the V-8........ But but shaving the portholes?????? Thats like having her nipples removed....... This guy needs therapy.
I wish you had found it first too. Shaved the port holes and put a Chevy in it . No accounting for taste. He could have just put a Buick grill in a '52 Chevy. Seeing a Chevy in a Buick makes me nauseous.
