    Hey Guys,

I am out of town visiting a friend, he has an 53 Super Rocket with a '57 371 powerplant. I was wondering if you guys could give us some info on the front suspension, and the rear differential...plus any other good to know info? Will post pictures later on.,

    Thanks,

    Otto

    Dude!

What the hell? I am on vacation and I signed on to help my best friend out with some background info on his car. I have not been on the board in a week or so, so I guess I missed something...sorry. Could you send me a link to the thread that you are refering to. I was not trying to start anything, and I am still not trying to do that. I was just looking for some background info on a car I don't know anything about.

    Thanks,
    Otto

Hi, Otto-- Yorgi wasn't really being a jerk. He was teasing. You can see the little smile icon with sungl***es at the top of his post. He was alluding to the thread where a lot of guys have gone to a lot of effort to spill the beans on the '49-64 303-394 Rocket engines. And we ain't done yet:

    http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=47584&page=1&pp=20

Is the ****** a stick or an auto? And if an auto, does it have a pan on the LH side as well as the bottom, or no?

I don't know how to answer your question about the front suspension, but there is a tech forum at oldsclub.org where you can answer your question. They also have cl***ifieds for when you are looking for stuff.

I'll explain the procedure for determining the rearend gear ratio later.

Others here will give great tips on lowering your car if you put that in a separate thread.

Oh, yeah: did you move from New Mexico? There's an Otto there that has a large collection of rocket parts. But I figured he knew more about the engines...

    Oh,

Boy do I feel like I over-reacted, sorry. No I am not Otto from NM, I am from AZ. Thank you for the info, as for the ****** it is an automatic and it has a pan on the bottom, I will let you know for sure on the side pan in the morning.
Thank you for the info on the oldsclub.org...I will be looking throuh that info shortly.

    Thanks,
    Otto

    Yorgatron-

Boy, I am sorry. I did not understand that you were joking. I guess I am gonna have a second helping of crow with dinner. I feel bad for kind over-reacting. Blownolds told me that you were kidding around...oops.

Have a thick skin on the HAMB, it's a little rougher than most sites. Just part of the atmosphere. As long as it's not out of hand.

you don't have to apologize to ME,i was being an A-hole :D

owning and/or builing an Olds is probably the hardest thing you can do,traditional-rodding wise.hell, even the 4 banger guys have more aftermarket parts support than WE do!
you wanna run a Rocket you gotta beg, borrow and steal.most of the parts are out there, but everyone wants a fortune for'em,especially any stick shift parts.
even when you DO find good parts, they usually need rebuilt or reconditioning of some sort.
then there's parts you just have to make yourself.buy a lathe and a mill and a welder and have at it.good luck-george

The Car in Question is actually mine. I'm new to the board but thought it might be nice to upload a pic so people can see what the car currently looks like.
