Well here is the problem. Im 25 and I get out a lot. I know I'm still considered a kid by most standards and I don't think age matters much..... but in this case it does. I go out to a lot of shows in and around the Los Angeles area and their is a reoccurring problem. Poser's, wannabees and or kids who just wanna be hard. All of us at one point thought the world revolved around us or thought we knew everything at a certain age. (some still feel they do) These guys (not ones in question) whom portray the custom car culture in the wrong light will end up getting theirs. The scene is getting bigger and with that comes idiots who feel they have to act this way to please themselves and their peers. I too get pissed off here and there regarding ***holes like these, but if I went running around busting heads.... I would be no better. These dudes will get twice as much **** as they give out. Karma is a mofo. Sorry for the rant.

the deadbeats i know are great guys. period. i don't know any deadbeats in california. i know deadbeats in detroit, mattoon, dan antonio, winfield, ark city, and kearney. those dudes, those dudes there are great dudes.

  4. Actually, I had never heard of the old guys you're talking about. I'll ask the Detroit guys if they had heard of them before naming the club. It's somewhat irrelevant (sp?) anyways, since it sounds like they're no longer "active". I'd be interested in their history regardless...the old clubs are fascinating as hell.

I think the big problem is that we strive to present a positive, creative image...and have done so for years...I'm willing to guess these recent "deadbeats" weren't even able to drive when the DEADBEATS detroit was started. I'm more concerned with people confusing us with a bunch of BUSTERS, just because the name is the same. Lame *** beer swilling idiots and goofball-goth-a-billies are something I would go out of my way NOT to be ***ociated with, in any way, shape or form. You're en***led to your opinion and have stated it...if you don't want to help me/us feel free to ignore the thread. No harm. No foul. You have no idea, however, what the members of the DEADBEATS would do to help one another, if needed.

This thread wasn''t meant to get anyone riled up...I was just hoping SOMEONE on the west coast might know these guys and have them contact me so I could encourage them to do the respectful thing and modify/change their name. I KNOW the recent deadbeats are RECENT because alot of us DEADBEATS (and our friends) travel around the country (and world) on a regular basis and haven't come across them until recently.

This is why posts get closed. Dan is asking a simple question and people are answering with I know so and so..... He has a simple to the point question and people turn it into a circus. If your not involved or know the man dont screw up his post.

  7. Dan,
I have already looked for The Deadbeats So Cal, I couldn't find anything, I've called my bros in the LA area in the hotrod/kustom scene as well as the rockabilly/pshycobilly scene, if I find them, I'll p*** all the info on to you, I meant no disrespect to you or your bros, just thought I'd pose a question. No harm, no foul. I know that there are 4 or 5 of the OG SF deadbeats, all of them ****ing super guys, if you're ever out here, maybe we can make a trip north ?

  8. Not a problem,Skip...and a trip north would be cool. I'd be willing to bet the stories those guys have would be well worth the trip. :D

    Dan,

I know the Deadbeats of SoCal... I believe they restarted the Deadbeats from the Bay Area... with permission.

BTW, the myspace links posted are not the same club.

  10. well....that certainly gives us something to discuss, within the club. Simple things get so confusing sometimes...

Maybe you can get one of 'em to email me?
