Lookin for some examples of coupe headliner installation

  1. I would still like to see more completed example pics.

  2. :D I got here to the HAMB because of this article! Outstanding! Thanks SkipStitch! My '79 Squire is a 100% Rust Free Mexican-built car, that my wife and I drove up to Winterpeg in 1999. We bought it in 1996, and drove it across Mexico from Guadalajara to Monterrey, and all around the countryside, with a 302.

I changed the engine to a 200 ci I6, while I hunt down a small Ford V4 or V6 diesel (Likely from a Ranger, to do my bit for better emissions, and still get performance/torque. I'm and engineer, and want to experiment with my own ideas to get control of emissions or reformulate them to be saleable. So I have to make my own sensors and readouts for SO2, NOX, CO, and CO2, but there's not much room for new gauges. We need a Handsfree Cell/recharger base, a CD/Cassette storage box, and something for coffee cups.

I'm on a mission to update the car with better equipment and gauges and was looking for Headliner removal tips. I was planning to do a 'header console' and knew I'd need more than the standard headliner replacement tips.

The Wagon has the roof rack, and that gives me a chance to put discrete fasteners under the rails to hold the interior ceiling-mounted console. I got the bucket seats from a two-door Fairmont, which will let me add my own custom floor console, and I just have to find a good source for UV resistant fabric for the re-upholstery this summer.

    Outstanding detail! Thanks again!:D

    Hey stitch that's great tech.
I sewed my headliner with a tuck and roll center with red piping. radiused corners, like an insert. had trouble keeping the tail from puckering in the radius corners. the seams on the tail go out at angles from the 4 radius corners. Any tips or hints ?

i've asked this several times Ryan---nothing. there is a cardboard piece at the rear of the garnish moulding on a 39/40 ford tudor that goes to the small rear window--it crumbled to dust when we pulled the old headliner and i can't seem to find anyone that knows anything about the dimensions/composition/etc. if you should hear anything regarding this, i'd appreciate a pm. i have looked at most posted pics on the HAMB but it's usually a completed interior and is no help---Marty

    Skipstich,

Your description with pics was posted 5 and one half years ago but this is what I have been looking for the 32 Chevy I am doing up. Your post was pointed out by another member of the hot rod community. Great stuff, the fog is lifting.

    Cheers,

Just finished reading this post, and I must say I'm inspired. The old coupe may finally get a head liner!

i was browsing some threads over on the ford truck enthusiast site and there was a link to this thread. somehow i missed it here all these years. i'll be going back and reading the whole thing soon. i've always wanted a headliner in clarence but had no idea how to go about it.

anyway, i thought it was interesting to see the link on a site that's pretty much unrelated to the hamb.

and; oh-by-the-way; maybe someone else on here missed it and would like to see it...

I am so happy to come across this thread! I am going to attempt my own headliner in our 36 Diamond T - that would not have ever had a headliner! Picking up luan today - now to find a supplier for that cardboard!

I don't know how I missed this thread when I was researching putting a headliner in my '31. If I had seen this earlier, I would have done a few things differently instead of going off the reservation. Oh well, maybe on the next one......
