May 31, 2002. Couldn't believe there were this many guys that were 'flathead crazy'! I'm #723/
Moved to the central valley in 1989, seemed like there were many real gearheads, we never missed the local Mothers Day run, "Motate to Merced".
When the goodguise took it over, the change was dramatic. SBC became the norm...

    Fitting.

  5. Mike took offense to that. Nothing but props when I came up with it since Cole helped him chop it. Total respect 16861056678346706052080723822840.jpg

Just the phone conversations with Dick Spadaro alone made the HAMB my favorite pitstop.

Damn... it's been 15 years and I'm still waiting to be a grenade inspector.

(I live in the mountains and don't get into town a lot. Use small words and speak slowly to me). :D

    Cheers,

wow, been a lifetime ago... miss the old HAMB i think i first got on the HAMB back in 1999 when I meet this greazer dude with a Edsel sled in Colorado. I think his HAMB name was Spooky...

  15. I didn't even own a computer until later that year, but Bob K pestered me for years before I finally joined in 2006. When I first met Bob decades ago, he was a Corvette only kind of person back then, things change...

  18. As I recall **DONOTDELETE** was his HAMB name, had nothing to do with the board itself.

It's nice to take a step back and reminisce about the early days of the HAMB. It truly is amazing the comradery generated and spread through this site.

The talent here is the one thing that's kept an even keel at the top....it truly rocks!

  23. It has been a long time when you look back. It doesn't seem that long ago to me. But I am a terrible procrastinator so that might have something to do with it. And now, this is my 10,000 post. Most of my posts are just snarky comments, I don't know enough to contribute much.

I am a member of that club. I have always felt like a spectator. The HAMB for me has always been like a university campus where we are free to wander around at will and walk into any classroom willy-nilly. Just quietly sneak into the room, take a seat in the back and observe (and be entertained).
The other mental metaphor for me is taking a seat in the grandstands at the racetrack and wandering around the garages. What a beautiful place!

Cool Thread. I’ve been around since 2007, how do you determine your number. I see a number of references to “I’m ###”
