Hello all. Looking for ideas on paint finish. I have a great original patina grille and hood. The body is a new Brookville. Should I leave the parts as they are and match the body somehow (primer, green,etc...) or paint the whole thing black or maroon? The frame, wheels, and ch***is parts will be painted black. Building a early post war car.
I love maroon. Get the car together and drive the hell out of it so you get some paint patina to match your grill patina. Donuts in gravel, bonzai runs down dirt roads should get you there in a reasonable amount of time. Great looking car.
Any colour you want......as long as it's black ! You've spent all that money on a new car, - give it a decent paint job. Gloss black !
Every now and then, I see a car with a hood that doesn't match -- it can look really cool if done right.
No Moon Blue, it is very, very dark, no metalic, no, pearl, looks black in certain conditions. Dont remember Mfg. possibly Dupont. That is my plan(when I win the lottery). GOOGLE Bob Bauder roadster, beautiful dark blue, dont recall the name of the paint but I like it.
Black or maroon, doesn't really matter which one, but paint it glossy and make it look like you care!
just curious, why would anyone choose from one of only two colours for their car that EVERYONE else is using? They are cars, not zebras, its not like you are gonna be devoured by lions if you stand out from the herd...
Channelled deuces can be any colour, highboys have to be maroon or black. edit: and the Model A's don't count.
I'm also looking for paint now, Thinking maroon also. the 1930 Ford maroon is IM1011 I have an e-mail into TCP global right now asking if they can mix that paint number.
I would try and figure out a way to make it rusty, so it can be traditional. I normally would agree with HRP here and say paint it black but here is something to consider, maybe wax the oxidized layer off the hood and grill shell and try and find a color to match it. Actually the matching is pretty easy to do you just wax it to bring the color out then take it to your local automotive paint supplier and have then use that little color matchy thingy on it then mix the paint.
Get your hands on a copy of the '32 Ford color chart , you'll be surprised at the variety of colors that were available in 1932 . Good luck .
Have not seen my color on here yet! Guess that is a good thing But I always say when in doubt (paint it black)
Paint it flat black with red wheels and white walls just like the 50s bro Only joking I think it would be really cool if you did something along the lines of what porkn****** said! I also think it would be rad to get it painted as best as you can afford and then drive the living **** out of it and over time the body will get some patina on it like the hood and the grill shell
