Im working on a 64 Fairlane for mama, and I was wondering if any body has ideas about doing lace panels on it. Just trying to drum up some cool ideas... it seems to make it easier to sand the fuker down.

Have you tried a search? Several threads on lace & even some *recently*... ~ Paul aka "Tha Driver" If you can't take the heat, get out of the nuclear reactor.
Switchblade327 just did a lace job on his '64 buick wagon. Do a search. The car is for SALE. If I had the cash it would be in my driveway.
I used to do a lot of lace panel painting on vans in the seventies. Heres a hint.---Mask of whatever panels you want to have, cover the rest of the car in paper and masking tape.Use a bit of wax and grease remover to clean the panel surface, then scuff the panel area with a medium Scotchbrite pad. Spray the panels in a lighter colour than the main paint scheme and let it flash off completely dry. Have your panels of lace precut about 2" larger than the panels all around. I always found it worked a little better if the lace was slightly dampened with water---key word being "damp" not wet.---you don't want to transfer any water to what you are spraying. Get an extra set of hands to pull the lace tight on 4 corners and tape it down with 2" wide masking tape on all sides.---The tape runs of the lace onto the masking tape and paper covering the area you don't want sprayed. Turn your gun pressure way down, to about 5 or 10 PSI---just enough pressure to make the gun work. Fog the paint (in a contrasting colour) onto the lace covered panel---let it flash off dry. Remove the lace and tack the area if you think it is necessary. I used to mix a very small amount of black with the colour left in the spray-gun---Just enough to darken it a few shades (not too much black). Turn the pressure up a bit and "fog around the edges of the panel lightly---this is an aquired skill---you want the lace to give the illusion of turning to a solid or semi-solid colour around the edges of the panel. Bury everything in minimum 3 coats of clear. You will be left with a "paint line" around the edges of the panel.--You can hide the tapeline by applying vinyl pin-striping around the edge of the panel. If you want to get really into it, you can clear the entire car, but that is a ****load of extra work.---Use your own judgement.
Holler at Lux Blue, he did one for a HAMB'er (Jeepres Creepers), theres a thread somewhere with pics.. PC
