Hello. I'm using a stock 48 Ford car axle and the Speedway Motors perch and shackle kit. I thought that this was a very common application, but I am having trouble finding someone that supplies a spring that will fit between the shackles. I need something about 37'' from eye to eye. Does anyone know where I should be looking?? I went to a local spring shop about building one, and they seemed pretty clueless, even though I brought them the axle and perches and showed them.
Any help in pointing me in the right direction is appreciated.

    Thanks

Check the spring off one side of the front of an F-1 Pickup. That is what I ran with a similar axle on my T when I built it. One of the guys with an F-1 might measure his spring to make sure.
If you have a spring that is close you can have a spring shop make or modify a/the main leaf. Even have one made with reverse eyes to get the rig a bit lower.
Any full service spring shop should be able to make or have a spring made to your specs. Check to see who does the truck suspension work in your area.

And or as chpnchanneled said if you want to drop the loot Posie's or an other rod shop that sells springs.

I think Posie's has what you are looking for. I thought they made a spring to convert that axle from spring in front to spring on top.

are you trying to use the pre `35 type (above the axle) perches on the `48 axle?
if so, then of course the stock `48 spring will be too long.
i would think a serious spring shop could re-roll one of the eyes to shorten your spring, then you would just have to redrill the center bolt hole.
the trick here is getting a good spring shop that understands what the temper of the heat treatment should be, after they annealed with heat to re-roll the eye.

If you are using the 46-48 Ford car axle and need to go with a spring over you will need to use POSIES # 1025.

This spring is designed to work with the axles 40.5" perch centers. The spring measures 35.5", 1.75" wide with reverse eyes. We also offer it a several different configurations.
