Once owned by silent film star Harold Lloyd, this 1935 Packard limo has plenty of seating room and when the kids start yelling, you can wind up the divider window. Too, plenty of room for to install Viper V-10 running gear, replacing the V-12
I don't think I would like to feed a V12 or a V10. Personally I can't stand the sound of V10, Ford or Dodge.
Harold Lloyd was from a small town in southeastern Nebraska-Burchard, about 20 miles from where I grew up. Just a little hole in the wall left, but they do have a small museum.
The V10 Vipers sound good when they have the rear exit exhaust, not so much with the side exhaust. A friend of mine had a 69 427 Corvette with the factory sidepipes-it sounded like big ****.
If that engine is running good, I would keep it. I don’t think an engine swap will help your resale value. I’m a Packard fan. You should do whatever you want with it. Is this something you’ve already bought, or just shopping?
I shot a series of photos of this car for a Hemmings ad. Neighbor did some of the restoration work. This car was done as a driver with lots of Dynamat. Has a hidden backup camera and a third brake light in the rear window that is almost invisible. Turning radius ****s! There is a pre-war Packard coupe with Viper running gear that shows up at a Goodguys show once in a while. One of the founders of the Packard Club lived in Durango and he would almost stroke out when we would talk about doing an engine swap. Check the size of the spare. Trunk tips forward to access the truck lid.
