Anyone got one in their ba*****t, or on their car?I need the measurement from one with single stacks. The measurement will be from where the manifold sits on the block to the top of the stacks. Checking for clearance with the hood. Haystack
You do realise that injectors could be had with any number of configurations, with any stack length. I am going to guess that 12" is going to be good guess for most drag and sprint car setups, from block to the top of the stacks. David
Cmon guys, I don't ask for much help????? surely one or two of the few thousand members here has to know of someone with a Small block Chevy stacked mechanical fuel injection unit laying around, to measure the APPROXIMATE length of the stacks, from the top of the stacks to the block.... how about a GUESS???? Otherwise MY cousin HAYSTACK and I must be in the WRONG place.... THIS BUMS ME OUT!!!!!!! LUKESTER
Thanks DAVE, But doesn't that seem a little short? I dont know, since I really don't do chevys but 12 Inches seems sorta short...... How tall were the average 60's AFX stacks, like LANDY would run???????LUKE
15-16" inches from the valve head to the tulip on the stack yeilds max volumetric efficiency at about 5500 rpm (having to do with the third harmonic and the speed of sound....), anyway, figure 3 inches of that length is in the port of the head, so about 12-13 inches of that would be in the stacks themselves. Hemi's had taller stacks than other motors, due only to the fact that there is less length in the port to add up to the desired 15-16 inches. David
Over the years there have been many different versions of SBC Hilborn injectors. You'll need to be more specific. Also, you'll have two dimensions to deal with....the height from the engine's end rail (top of the block) to the top of the Hilborn casting and then you add the stack length which can vary because they made different length stacks.
