iam looking to paint my 64 ford short box. i would like it to be a red oxide look. but all the paint stores have is red oxide that looks brown.i want it to last iam looking for a base coat satin clear.any help.
Something like this? Check the top half, it's scuffed with a Scotchbrite pad now look at the lower half, it's just as shot, kind of satin-ish. Check www.squeegskustoms.com Awesome product
Find the color you want, then go to an auto paint store and tell them to match it in base coat. Looks good and seams to hold up good. My son has had it on his roadster for four years and still looks great.--TV
This is from Spies Hecker. The paint store guy claims that it is waterproof unlike most primers. It's been wet a few times with no sign of rust. I am satisfied with the look. You can even get it in spray bombs for touch up. It costs more than Krylon.
I thought Red-oxide was a brownish look (not red) its what I did my sedan in (similar to above) and what Squirrel shows
My dad and I used Sherwin Williams tinted primer/sealer on my Galaxie. We mixed two shades of red/brown and a little red and black paint to get the color I wanted. It has been on the car for 1-1/2 years now and is holding up very well. Malcolm
If I didn't work so slow I'd be right there on the 'cutting edge' of the new trend with you.. ..... .... by the time I finish it'll be time for plan 'B' CC
My car is painted with PPG DP74. It is 8 parts red and 1 part black. I cant take credit for figuring it out. We tried a few times to get it the way I wanted it and finally after talking to Clark here on the HAMB we tried what he suggested and thats what we went with. 8:1
