  4. There was one sitting along the roadside here this past weekend with a For Sale sign on it. I stopped and checked it over. It was stock, no heavy rust, look like it had been painted years ago with a broom (black enamel), wheels were later spoke (maybe 34 Ford ?) with original tires (just OK) Motor was a running original and interior looked to be original and mostly there (seat, floor boards, dash), and all original gl*** still there. It could be driven home and looked pretty good from 50 feet. Price was $9,500.00. Remember this is West Virginia now.

This is fun isn't it. :D All I was trying to say is that I believe the prices of these bodies have been inflated beyond what they are actualy worth.

    That's my feeling on it.

I also believe that guys like Tinman etc., who find these bodies usually get them for a whole lot less than they sell them for.

I had a "friend" (not really as friends don't treat each other this way) get a Model A body for $400 and then tried to sell it to me for $4500 .

Anyway, like a bunch of other guys I'm hoping to come across one that will be treated just like any other old car, where the current owner will say "I just want it out of here, I'll take $500.

And don't tell me it's impossible, I know otherwise.

I was given my rough (similar to old Jeffrey James's) 32 5 winder by a stranger. My Dad was able to buy it for 300 from a guy he knew who was given the body and then my Pops in turn gave it to me for Christmas. So yes, you are correct it is possible.

I've invested plenty in it since then :D. and am very glad the initial investment was low or I'd be way UPSIDE DOWN!!!

Hey Tinmann, just noticed there's a tag on the p***. side of the firewall on your deuce body you've sold. What would be on that tag? just wondering.

Hmmmm....Considering a 32 Ford coupe sold new for around $490, do you suppose folks are paying INFLATED prices for them now, 78 years later?

A better investment, than what those gold investment adverti*****ts are peddling. Besides, I can drive it, instead of just look at it.:D

Are the prices inflated or just reflecting a supply and demand economy? Are the prices of early 30's duesenbergs, packards and cords inflated?? The times of finding bodies for $550 bucks are longggg gone. These cars are 78 years old now and aren't being made anymore. If you don't want Henry steal then you have a number of options. If Henry steal is something you just have to have then stop complaining and start paying fair market value. You do after all live in a capitalist economy! Are you trying to tell us that if you were trying to sell a 32 ford body you wouldn't try to get as much for it as you could??!! I don't know Tinmann but maybe he's just trying to get as much as he can for the body so he can fund another project. Maybe he's just barely breaking even after shipping costs from Manitoba to his house.

The bodies that would have been dicarded as junk 5-10 years ago are now being fixed. Hmmm... Wonder why that is??

As of 5-13-10 there is a 32 steel 5w body on Ebay for 25K. Check out the listing, someone wrote in to challenge the price and the response is interesting.
If the 32's are going for these prices, where do the 33/34's fit in the price of things. About the same or less??

I held a light up to it and tried to make out what it might have said. I couldn't see a darn thing. If it had been legible I probably would have stolen it long ago for my 3w.

Oh..... and I bought this body back in '88 and yes, I paid less for it than I was asking for it....... surprise, surprise.

    SHAME ON YOU .. :D
Everyone thinks you should have bought it, stored it for 20 something years ... and then sold it to them for the 1988 price ... with a HAMBER discount.

In the real world ... I hope you made a HOME RUN on it.
Because like I have said before ...

You NEVER pay too much for real 1932 Ford parts ... just just bought them a little early

I have seen Tinmans car in person, and if he would have given me the chance to buy it, I would have paid the full 12,500$ no problem.

This is my **** body and I wouldnt sell it for a cent less than 7500$.

Hope it went to a good home Tinmann.

Gee, I have a ’32 5-window body better than those. I was thinking of stick-welding it to an old truck ch***is and calling it a rat rod. But maybe I should put it in a bank vault instead.

Doubt it. The 5w has been a rumor for quite a while and from what I hear they are trying to make as much profit with the 3 window as possible which means not spending cash on tooling for a 5w. And $23,000 for a 3w base price is still a **** load of money.

I bought my body for $5K and found two brookville quarters (roadster) on craigslist and ebay and bought them for under $700 for both. I am estimating less then $15k on my body by the time it's all said and done which is a world away from the $23k mark. As the wisest man I know with '32 stuff once said, if you don't want to pay $1000 for a Deuce Firewall then don't. It'll just take you a little longer to find the deal.

It is tough to build a 32 coupe with out paying the inflated 32 prices, but still possible. Dont pay what you arent comfortable with.

Yeah prices are crazy, but I have to agree with old blue. Just because 95% of the people pay the big bucks doesn't mean the other 5% don't hit the screaming deal on a 32. If you wait long enough, look hard enough and get lucky you can score a 32 5w cheap. Some of you have seen this car before. I nailed this one down for $10,000 even back in 2003 but had to let it go in 2004 due to finances. Even a blind squirel gets lucky and finds a nut every now and then.
