I’m looking for a shop in the San Francisco Bay area that can do body work and paint on my 36 Ford pickup. I’d like them to also reassemble the sheet metal and set all the gaps. I don’t need any mechanical, electrical, or interior work. Let me know if you have any suggestions. Thanks in advance Dan
Knowing your budget affects shop recommendations. …and what condition things are in now is important. Photos help. $100-200k is a likely cost for top quality work. Your frame would need to be evaluated first, because if it is not right you are wasting time and money trying to do body work.
Thanks for the suggestions. I checked with South City, and they don't do their own paint. I'll check with Altissimo. The truck will be a restomod, and has a chassis from Heinzman Street Rods. All of the sheet metal is HF steel and is in pretty good shape. This will be a driver and not a show truck, and my budget for paint is about $25k. What I'm finding is that the custom shops that do show-quality work start at about $50k. The remaining shops are mostly collision, and either don't want the job or don't really know these trucks.
Unfortunately, I am going to guess you are going to be hard pressed in the San Francisco area to get what you want done for $25,000 unless you find a one man show that's kind of under the radar. Unless it's already been done there is more than likely going to be metal work required to get the gaps set, then body work then paint. $25,000 is not going to go far for all of that. South City uses Compani Color Compani Color - Home for all their builds but they are probably up there in price if you haven't already checked with them. Alex Gambino is in San Jose no idea what he would charge or if he does that sort of stuff. Gambino Kustoms - Custom Cars, Air Ride Kits for Custom Cars.
