Not at all satisfied with the stance on my 32 Vicky. I am currently running 31X10.50X15 on the rear and p195 14 on the front. They were just extra wheels I had when I started the project. I think I have way too much rubber rake and too big tires on the back. With no fuel tank and big**** bustle on the vicky I am not satisfied with the look of the rear from the 3/4 view. i am currently considering American Salt Flat wheels with 225 X 15 rear and 145-175 X 15 front. The other thought is 15 inch steelies in cream with 48 caps. One other thing I will be getting rid of the vicky body next winter and replacing wiht 4 inch chopped 31 A on the 32 rails. I am wanting to improve the look for this summer. Fire away I am thick skinned and some thick headed....

I like it, I'd run hood sides. I like the idea of the cream steelies. I'd only run 4 1/2s on the front. At the moment I reckon the fronts are to wide and the offset isn't a good look because of it. I'd put a big Whodaky (pinstripe design) on the back. That would make things a little more interesting back there

I think the headlights are too big for the size of the front tires.
    Needs King Bees.
Run all the tread off them*****ers, then worry about what to put on it next time.

By the time you run the tread off those the super wide Gold letter Goodyear Indy Eagles on chrome wires will be back in style! [IMG] [IMG]

(Seriously, the only problem I have with them is they look "new". Wear them out!)

    I'd keep the big lights.

It does need larger diameter wheels. Maybe these. 15 x 4 on front & 16 x7 rear?

large tires make the car look lower than it is.

go with a taller front tire on the same rims

make your final decision when you get the A body on it.

right now the overall package is consistant,

gelcoat, radials and chrome kit SBC, just drive it.

yeah, the headlights are a little big, what are they? Franklin? [IMG]

i have pics of what not to do. i think the front of my car looks right, but i havent yet got the right size rear tires. kinda "run what'cha brung" front stock 40 ford 6x16 rear 7.50 x 15, outer dia is just barely larger than front. im planing on using 8x16 on rear

here's an old pic of my pos with similar size rear radials

and a taller front radial, I forget the tire size though, they were sized for the little import trucks, rims are 14x6.5

this was a compromise setup, the best riding and driving set I've had on it, but they never looked right to me either..

After looking at yours, I think I would have to do something with the fuel tank on this one.

  16. Keep the rears, go with a 155/15 VW tire for the front. Mount it on a 5" rim 4" is even better.

Paul, I sure like the way your coupe sets in the pic posted.

  18. I agree with most posters , taller front.
Lose the 14's , 14'' wheels are too small for these cars im my opinion. The cars that get it right are usually on 15'' and I particularly lean towards 16'' all round as Im more 40'S than 50's really.
Anything that starts looking 'off the shelf' loses it for me , we have loads of catalogue cars here in the U.K. and they are boring.
They have all the 'expected' bits fitted but lack something , no character.
Theres a thin line between a 'Nostalgic' catalogue Rod and the shiny brigade we all claim to be rebelling against !!

Im intrigued people post pics on here asking for advice on the look of the car as well. There is an argument for just 'knowing' the look and also , if you are happy with your car and how it looks ,***** everybody else !!
If you arent happy , change it !!!

I agree with whatever floats your boat and not trying to satisfy everyone else. I usually know what I like pretty quick and understand the look. However, I am not certain which way to go with this car. I am looking for advice and ideas on how to improve. Just so you know when I first got this car it was wearing a Super Heidt independent front.....
Been working on how to improve "the look" without breaking the bank.

  20. well it definitely looks like you are heading in the right direction !!

Here is my opinion: SKINNY chrome reverse wheels[or just early chromed O.E.(original equipment)] up front with blackwall bias plys. Out back, blackwall piecrust cheater slicks(from radir or hurst) on some deep chrome reverse wheels. (it may help to take a long look at the American Graffiti) coupeIf slicks aren't your bag just get some tall blackwall bias ply. And lose the hood along with the red engine paint. Please give those headlights back to Jay Leno. This is if your on a super budget. If not, get some radir wheels instead.

I know all too well about the radial vs bias ply drive difference, but fenderless hot rods just don't look good at all with radials, unless your talking about the cars we really don't talk about on here(the AMBR kind of cars)

You asked for it now you got it.

Brownsburg? Hey, do you know Eric and Troy? Surely you must.

I think it needs bias tires. If you don't like whitewalls, then fine, but bias tires look so much better on a fenderless car. At least get 15" wheels. The taller tire on the front will help too, as was stated above.

I LIKE the headlights. Way better than some stupid tiny chrome street rod********* that every glass car seems to end up with. Hell, I like the vicky. It's almost there! Why go to a Model A?
