OK guys, you where all so helpful in identifying the Olds/Pontiac 9.3 in my 62 Nova gasser, I thought I'd go to the well again. When I bought the car, it had no front brakes. I'm looking to put discs on the front but need some suggestions. I'm not even sure what front axle this is. HELP!!!! What I would love to do is retro fit some discs off of say an S-10 or a blazer from the junkyard. I'm totally open to purchasing a kit from Speedway as well but I don't even know where to start. I'm currently running a 14" front wheel so I'm****uming a smaller diameter disc is in order. The axle measures 61 1/4" from inside flange to flange. Here is a bunch of pics and hopefully you guys can help me out with the following: 1. What the hell axle is this? 2. Suggestions for either retrofitting front discs from another vehicle or a decent complete kit to throw on there. Thanks for your suggestions!!!
I think your spindles are ‘47-‘59 Chevy pickup, but I’m more of an early Ford guy. If someone verifies that then look for a brake kit from Speedway Motors.

I'd put on the pair of 51-59 Chevy truck drum brakes I have in my shed, but then, I'm an idiot. Or get some disc brakes made for one of those trucks. If the car is fast, this is probably the better option. By fast, I mean running 11s or quicker in the quarter mile
I've never seen a '55-'59 Chev truck axle with hubs like those? The axle looks much like it, and if it is then drums from '49-'54 Chev cars fit right on it, and backing plates from the '55-'59 Chev trucks work good. Unless the car is extremely fast they'll stop your Nova easily. I've used this setup on heavier cars with a BBC engine, that were pretty fast, and weighed more than your Nova. Or buy the Speedway disc brake kit, but I don't think you need it.
51-54 Chevy car hubs and drums fit onto the truck spindles and backing plates. 49-50 used Huck brakes, 51-up are the better Delco Morraine brakes.
Squirrel, correct me if I'm wrong, but couldn't he just buy a disk brake setup for a 54 Chevy car? As far as I know, you aren't going to directly swap S10, or other disk brakes onto it. Fab and machine work would be required, so just buy a Speedway kit from them.
It has truck spindles, not car spindles, the backing plates have different part numbers. I don't know what the difference is.
I used this kit on my 57 pickup https://www.speedwaymotors.com/Deluxe-Disc-Brake-Kit-1947-1959-Chevy-Half-Ton-Pickup,4622.html I did put a 14x6 torque thrust with "0" offset on it for a test fit and nothing rubbed
