I wish I did. Absolutely beautiful country. We try to make a trip up there every year or two. Me and 5 buddies took a 1600 mile MC tour last year and Durango was one of our stops. Million dollar highway from Silverton to Durango is freakin awsum! We went to Alamosa, Leadville, Aspen, Carbondale, Ouray, Silverton and Durango.
Pics here if you want to see em.

  5. Denise if your going thru Durango on your trip to Bonneville try to make time to ride the train. The Durango/Silverton narrow guage railroad runs in the summer months and is billed as the most beautifull train ride in the world. Dont pass up the opportunity .
You need advance tickets . They may be difficult to get as sometimes there sold out months in advance.http://www.durangotrain.com/

Well we were planning on doing this BUT they are sold out for the day we will be in Durango. Does anyone have any contacts that might be able to squeeze us on the train for the day we need? Larry said he'd shovel coal or whatever is needed to get us on.:D

If worse comes to worse we will be at the train depot to see if perhaps they have some no-shows....it's worth a shot I guess.

  8. A ways North of Durango but if you happen to come through Gunnison, give a shout. Always happy to connect with a HAMB'er. Will PM you details.

we went there on out honeymoon, i go to durango to hunt every once in ahwile and i told my wife about the train ride so that is where she wanted to go. took a bunch of pics of the train ride. it only goes 1/2 way in the winter months but she loved it. my wifes camera got stolen about a month ago with the other 200+ pics of the honeymoon stuff, so we dont have one pic of us on the train. we just came back from above denver a couple of weeks ago and she made me detour down to pagosa springs, durango area... lets just say,she wants to move:rolleyes:

REALLY?? This is GREAT news. Anyway we can get confirmed standby??:D

We will be arriving in Durango, Monday Aug 6th and want to take the train ride on Tuesday the 7th. PM me your digets and I'll call you on Monday nite when we get to town if it's not too late. We do plan on arriving around dinnertime if you'd like to join us for something to eat. Speaking of that, can you recommend a place to eat in town with really good, reasonably priced food?

If you hapen to be up on the i-70 corridor, stop into Silverplume and stop by the shop just off the exit. Always looking for an excuse to take a break from working during the day...Always have some cool rides outside during the day for the people passin thru to look at, and a few more in the shop for the people who stop...
