We just found this 32 roadster and brought it home. According to the old guy who's had it for many years, it came from California and was a race car. The original doors/decklid were not with the rest of the car when he bought it. Can anyone help with an I.D.? The only letter showing on the cowl is a B. The quarter panels say "Scotties Body Shop", "C A Auto" and "paint work by Shaffer". Again, it just goes to show that they're still out there.
I know nothing other than I bet it was cool back in the day. Are you trying to find out about it so you can restore it?
There was a painter/striper in Portland named Phil Shaffer late 50s and on. He did lots of candy and fade paint, maybe someone knows him? Wizzard?
i know phil shaffers son ill contact him and have him ask his dad if he knows of the car. phil is back in portland now.
Try calling Dale Caufield (I think thats his last name). He owns 'Weedeater's' and he's from your area. Sorry I dont have Weedeaters contact info here.
With a paint job like that it should,nt be to hard to ID. Hope you get some nice pic,s of the car in action.
When Phil was painting the dash and window frames in my 51 Ford (Candy red, fade to gold), I hung around the shop and helped strip the interior out of a brand new 59 Ford. Turned out to be "My Blue Heaven"! He may have helped with the scalloped blue paint.
Too soon to tell, but restoration is a definate possibility. If we had the doors, we'd probably leave the paint/body as is. We'll see.
Yuck! I think you should paint the rest of the car to match that door. Who cares about history? Its only useful if its after lunch and you can take naps during the films. Dave
