Hey Tim, I could only find one pic of a 57 wagon but it does have the buick grill in it. Put a couple of other 50's wagons in for ideas.
As for making it a good driver..Done. It has all new brakes, wheel cyls, etc. It stops very well. Actually, it drives really, really nice(even with bias-plys). I'm going to pick-up my Diamondback www radials on thursday. I may just go with basic lowering for now until we decide to spend the chedder on bags. I need to look into a slightly smaller steering wheel. My belly rubs the stock one and I have to slide in and out! I looked at those repop smaller dia. 57 wheels. They're nice, but $300.... Thanks for all the input. Keep it coming. I may actually keep this for awhile! or get divorced!
I think that's because they look coolest as stockers, but that's just me. This is a '55 Handyman, not a '57, but you see how the illustrator made this wagon look really cool just by lowering it over stock? To me, that's the ideal way to build a '50s ride. It's all a matter of getting the wheels perfectly centered in the arch.
I vote to "Leave the Copper" Lower it like my photoshop..it would be a killer ride. On the other hand, do as you want too...its your car Either way, Im sure it will come out nice.
