My cousin and I are in search of a 1949 Mercury my uncle built back in the late sixties early seventies in Sioux Falls, SD. He sold the car to the Pioneer Auto Museum in the late seventies early eighties to help pay for the birth of my niece. I was informed that the car ended up in the Spokane, WA area. If anyone has any information as to the whereabouts or the owner of the car could you pass the information along to me please. My cousin and I would like to get the car back into the family. Again any help is greatly appreciated, Thanks.
seems like i seen that car at lowes motor speedway in north carolina last year. i remember the side window being filled. i'm not 100% sure its the same one.
I am hoping it will be easy to find. I posted this all over facehooker also. I just hope and pray that someone knows someone and that person would let it go back to the family that built it. I will sell my 49 Chevy just to get that back. Heck I will sell my soul if need be.. The car did not have a back seat instead it had a round table if my memory serves me correctly.
Any more pics? I think I might have seen it in a magazine ? Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
No other pictures at this time. I will get a hold of my family back home and have them take a look and see if any are still around.
I am talking to my cousin to see if any more pictures exist back home. Do you know what magazine by chance?
I saw that Merc in the South Dakota museum back in the mid 80s and still have a post card of the car that the museum handed out.
I do also. I am working my tail off trying to get info on the new owner. THe museum is being slow on getting back to me. I have a connection out here in CA that can find the car if I had the VIN. I am waiting on a response from the museum.
Just call the museum. They still use the car in ads. I can't remember if I saw it there last summer Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
I was trying to be a nice guy and just use email, but a phone call is going to have to happen i guess. They don't respond as fast as I would like them to. My patience level is not up to speed I guess
Remember, it is still winter and the owner and his son may not be around. It is not tourist season yet.
