I'm partial to a combination of 2, 6 and 8! I like the bed on 2, and I like a 4 dr or sleeper like 6 and I like tandems like 8 just because. I am building that combo also.
Just had a crazy idea, #7 could be changed a little and made to look like a Brinks truck! Maybe I should go to bed?
Number 3 because it's pretty much what I want mine to look like. 8.1 because in 15 minutes it could be converted to 8.2 for a quick "looks" change. I also like the slightly higher bed sides on 4 vs 4.1. If you're going to tow I wouldn't discount the bed on # 2 either. Ok, that wasn't much help but it's my choices in order. Heck, I wouldn't kick any of them out of my garage...
I've seen a car hauler built like 7.2, must have been close to 40 feet long. Big wow factor, but not very useful. I also would never build anything with wood on the outside of it, with-in 2 years it starts to look like ****. I know of 2 FTWs, one here on the HAMB.
Every time I see an FJ Cruiser I think about tossing the body and turning it into a WTF! It would break every hot rod rule, go slow, climb sand dunes, and roll back down the second you turned the least bit sideways to the hill. I actually would love to have a shorty stubby for a grocery getter.
I like 7 & 8 simply because they are different. Also 8.2 with fold down sides. You could make them removable or even turn them into ramps to put something on the back if you had to.
The idea of fold down sides is from China (about time we took something back). About all the trucks here use them, they don't have traditional pick-ups here and the they are used for side loading all the time. As far as setting them up to double as ramps, that's a good idea. Rob
The fold down and removable sides have been popular here with one tonners and mostly made with aluminium trays. Glad you like my ideas. Google Holden one tonner and you should see some trays and get some ideas. This may help> http://www.autospeed.com/cms/A_2366/article.html as it shows an aluminium tray.
