    Guys,

I have been searching the internet and here on the H.A.M.B. for pictures of early roadster style dirt and asphalt cars with little luck. I grew up on dirt racing, but have an affinity for the early Indy roadsters as well. Anything open cockpit from the teens through the 50's is preferred. Something that could have been run on dirt or asphalt.

I am searching for a photo to base the last piece of my sleeve on and want your help finding some cool photos.

    What have you got?.............

    Thanks

What are you referring to about the sleeve? I have hundreds of photos from event or I could send you to Eddie Hitze whose dad was a photographer back in the day. I’ve bought prints from him.

    Guys,

Thanks to all of you who have shared your photos and stories thus far. The caddy push car is a riot. It brings back good memories, we used to push sprinters at the dirt track before we had a drivers license.

After I posted the request, I found a web site that may interest a few of you. The link is http://www.thevintageracer.com/index.htm
and search under pictorials. There are some very interesting photos and stories of early Indy cars on the dirt at Williams Grove Speedway and other famous Eastern dirt tracks. I was surprised to find out how many Indy 500 winners had raced and won at the Grove during there annual Indy Car race.

When I was young, we used to run our dirt late model there, a lot of history some of you might find interesting. Many famous racers have run at the Grove, names like A.J., Mario, etc........

    Enjoy.

Here's one from a recent show in Tulsa that belongs to Jack Zink. It supposedly ran and won Monza back in the 60's.

All of those millers are beautiful.

Having never seen one of these things in person.....how big are these type of cars? What is the wheelbase? What diameter are the wheels.
