Looking for pics of rodded pickup's.

I plan on building an open fendered, closed cab, shortened box, chopped or sectioned, and channeled pickup out of one of my 3, 40's era International trucks. I have a basic idea of how I want it to look. But I am looking for more ideas. These kind of rods either aren't built much or I'm just looking in the wrong places. here is a idea of what I am looking for:

That's awesome...exactly what i was looking for do you have any more pics. do you know if he used the stock location for the front suspension? do you have any side shots? Specs on the bed?
i wonder what it would look like with a modified factory grille.

I have seen this truck a few times. Pretty nice. Way too channeld for my tastes though, but still a cool little truck.

 

Isn't this type of build what's referred to as "Rudy Style"?

 

I've never heard of "Rudy Style" before. That Internationals frame is unmodified. It goes straight throught the cab. The floor is real high with drop pans for your feet.

 

Hey I know its not quite what your looking for and its still a work in progress but i thought I would put it out there. Its a 49 international KB1 4.5in chop 8in channel over the origional frame and suspension

Steevil, what's the engine in your Cornbinder?

 

318 Mopar. 2 barrel with the cast manifolds.

 

Unfortunately too many of them has already been built!!!

 

Mine isn't an angry young rod like the Rudy style car but it is quick and purty.

here is a few more that i found:

 

1940 Ford front axle cut and dropped 4". The frame is z'd 2" up front and 10" out back. No channel.


The grill is a 34 Ford truck grill, head lights are Packard.

Rear axle is out of a Camaro, bed is custom made.

Tires are Firestones 5.60 15" front and Remingtons G78 rear.

The cab is 47 International, Engine is a 72 318 mopar.

I don't know for sure Ryan, but I think there are so many of these trucks out there because they are so cheap to build. 40s & up to mid 50 cabs are pretty easy to find, its the rest of those trucks that are a problem finding. Front clips and boxes took a real beating. With this style of build, all you need is a decent cab, some tubing or a frame and a drive train and wolla, new ride. Fast, easy, cheap. Might be an easier project than a model T anymore, and with these, you are out of the rain.

As far as over done now, lots of stuff is over done now. A guy has to really work at being original. Not all of us are Plowboys, but a few years from now, I suspect that too may be over done.

I have to agree with Ryan. A later 40's Ford, and F1's etc built as a "highboy" look awful, whereas one built as a pickup with fenders and finished out properly have the look without trying all that hard. More of the rat rod mentality with some of those others. The chopped International has a lot of promise. Keep us posted.

up in the rust belt you are lookin at thousands of dollars for a good 30s bodies but you can still get 46-7 ford cabs for less than 1 hundred I did the math and have two cabs now. As for this and alot of other kinds of cars you can always look to the left if you dont like whats on the right.

I think the later cabs have cowl issues that need to be addressed. You can use up to about a 37 with no fenders and get by but the later ones have the deeper cowls that I think take away from the "lines" like ryan said.

Trucks are indeed about the only thing you can afford any more. I would love to build a coupe, but it seems that I would have to spend my entire budget on just the "project" part.
