Well first off welcome to the boards....hopefully the boards and memebers will be a great influence towards building a hot rod...

You will be better off looking up a website dedicated to s-10's or modern trucks since the H.A.M.B.S board is a traditional street/hot rod forum so if you want more responses to your questions take your S-10 and put a 46-54 chevy truck body on that frame...

The 283 will have higher quicker revs over the 400 but less torque..depending on what 283 you also makes a difference...If you have a police eng the engine will rev even quicker than a standard 283 due to small counter balances on the crank..the police engine will also have longer cylinders, with the longer cylinders a standard 283 crank will not fit as the counter balances will hit the bottom of cylinder (past experience with my Dad)

A 400 will be an okay engine but are not the greatest stock....They can be built up but for an all around dependable driver with a lot of potential I'd suggest a 350 since they are the most common as far as availability and for performance upgrades (internal).....

Man...initial caps on EVERY word...no punctuation between statements, run-on sentences...hard to read for me... Y'all talk that way down there in Weesiana...???

...and I think that particular word would be "winds"

But Chris, S-10's do not belong on this board...unless you're simply using the frame to mount an older body...

And here IS some advice: it might be better for you to check out some other site/board that caters to late model stuff...we don't..!!!

To those that gave advice thanks alot and to those who wanna critisize well i have nothing to say for you i heard this was a decent site to chat with a lot of people that has had experience ranging from front bumper to rear bumper from ground up well i guess i heard wrong so thanks alot sorry for the inconvience

  8. Folks were nice, they suggested another venue to talk late models. Asking for puntuation and spelling standards didn't seem rude at all.

As stated, this site is for trad hot rods and customs. Late model pickups are not on topic, although, many guys here have done the swap you speak of. We just don't discuss them on this board.

Chris WELCOME to the site anyway.why dont you throw away all the sheetmetal except the cab, narrow it about 12 inches, chop it 10 inches, graft on a 49 chevy hood, inline 292 then paint it flat black.

seems to be an on going thing these day in the HAMB must be the new search engines bringing up the HAMB with anything to do with cars and the fact they never read the rules.

Where are these people coming from?

  12. WTF! It would still be an S10,and leave the "flatblack" to the"rat rod" sites. :DYes there are cars on here that are flatblack, but that is not the focus of "traditional hot rods". Chris, welcome anyway, there is a wealth of knowledge on here, but as already stated we're about hot rods. Stick around you, might like what you see,but be careful hot rods are habit forming.LOL
