Hey guys, I recently picked up this 34 5w that is an old hotrod and would love to know the history on it.

so here’s what I know about it.

it’s a 34 5w, has chrome garnish moldings, Buick insert in the dash, black and white tuck and roll interior, was painted what looks like tatian red and possibly gold before that.

had a nailhead, (most likely a 322/364) with a Buick top shift trans, also has a 50 olds rear.

it has a Plymouth steering box and possibly its most distinct feature is a set of 40 tail lights.

also it had shaved door handles inside and out and a shaved decklid with huge old solenoids and early ford starter buttons for switches IMG_9540.jpeg IMG_9535.jpeg IMG_9533.jpeg IMG_9534.jpeg IMG_9536.jpeg IMG_9529.jpeg

I bought it in NC and was told it was from Tennessee at some point. That’s about as much as I know.

if you know anything about its history please share!!

It’s incredibly solid. I’m absolutely blown away at the condition it’s in.

Is that the one that was on here recently with the owner describing his fun of removing the 1/4” thick paint?

    It is.
The folks that owned it before him ground the paint off all the way around the edge of the car:(

which really sucks as the rest of the paint job is really nice

That thing is awesome. I would source a nailhead and make it run again. Too bad the PO goofed up the paint. Of course, I would probably go through it and freshen up the paint anyway, but that's me.

So, keep a chip of the original paint, finish stripping it, then restore it to the original build. Can’t see how that could be wrong.

that’s absolutely the plan. The only thing different is I’m planning to run a 283 with a 3:71 on it.

Hoping to be able to track down a picture from it as it was after it was built.

specifically would love to know what wheels and tires it was running.
