First post... I am building a '59 Stude Deluxe Scotsman pickup, making it an all Stude custom. I removed the original firewall and am fittiing a dash from a '57 Stude Golden Hawk into it. Studebaker had what was called under hood access in the trucks. The back of the dash was accessed from under the hood, with a horizontal flat sheet metal panel at the bottom of the dash in the engine compartment. In changing it over to the Hawk dash I removed the flat panel, and upper firewall, and am coverting it back to a conventional firewall and dash design. Would like to build a new upper firewall that is curved rather than just flat sheetmetal panels. Looking for some sheet metal guys out there to give me some ideas. What do ya think... english wheel, kerfing and welding? Thanks, studemaker
First, I'd do some sketching. Come up with a design that appeals to you. I'd also look for pictures of shapes that are close to what you'd like to do. Post those here so we can see what you are wanting to do. As it is, you'll get comments from all across the board. Dan Stevens dba, Steelsmith
