    The song rocks.

But for me once a week would be enough. I taped that song off of Dr Demento when I was about 8 and listened to it over... and over... and over... and over... and over again. I still like it though.

I don't know that I've heard any of his other songs though?

heheh! I'm glad you liked us (Hot Rod Hucksters)! Django didn't mention Bobbleed's band BLEED and Waxon 7... both played at the post Pileup shindig at Fool's. Both ROCK. I don't know if Waxon 7 has a cd out, but Bleed has a few and they are the perfect soundtrack to anything to do with cars... or ***.

Max Wedge's band Knuckel Drager rules.

If you liked Rocket 350, try the Trip Daddys from St. Louis. They sound great and put on a hell of a show.

Pick up the Mad Fabricators CD. It rules.

Jimmy & the Teasers are great to watch and fun to listen to. They are somehow involved in the Heavy Rebel Weekend in NC... not really rockabilly, but if you like Social D, you'll probably like them.

  5. Nice, Nice!!

I am listening to Kyuss right now, and that is pretty much the whole reason I read this post. Listened to Queens of the Stone Age all through the month of january. Other Favorites that are all over the genre scale

    Mondo Generator
    Mastadon
    ***Jack
    Hank 3
    Those Legendary Shack Shakers
    Desert Sessions
    Fantomas (expand your mind)
Faith no More (anything after "The real thing")
    Tomahawk
    Superjoint Ritual
    Snapcase
and finally the all mighty, HELMET, don't get much better than them

Give them a listen, I like em and they get me motivated

I have been on a steady diet of 60's garage!

Check out the SONICS, the ZEROS, MC5 and comp albums called back from the grave. Great FREAKIN TUNES!

I like stonerrock to. You like Clutch? They are one of my favorites. I like the Transnational Speedway League album probably the best, but I also like their self ***led album and their EP's and 7" releases are cool to. I am pretty open to a lot of different music though including some rockabilly.

Not quite rockabilly, but Paul Burch is a good choice for laid back, old style country/folk/whathaveyou.

If you're into The Cramps at all, try to find Songs The Cramps Taught Us. It's a three CD set of songs the cramps have covered or taken riffs out of, done by the original artists. Very very cool stuff. Lots of rockabilly and 60s and 70s trash rock.

I also like sloppy german horror punk and electroclash, but that's another genre entirely.

One of my personal favorite is Country ****. Granted I usually listen to it after I'm a little loopy on paint fumes and/or de-greaser. But, if "Dry Humpin in the Back of my Shoebox Ford" don't get ya motivated...I dunno what to tell you.

I have to suggest the Raunch Hands, hard to find but well worth it. And also on the surf rock side of things it doesnt get any better than Man or Astroman,if you ever get a chance to check them out live dont miss it.

I can't concentrate in the shop anymore without Six string Samurai Soundtrack by Red Elvises (eastern Eurobilly?), Los Straightjackets (surf), The Pickettes (semibilly?), and SCOTS, of course. And yes, Junior Brown, a couple times a week. Those are for getting started and break time (when I really listen). While making noise, I like high energy bebop: the original hot rod music, for building good honest hot rods (and no lyrics to distract me, just pure emotion).....

Tav Falco started in 1979 or so, they're not really old (at least by rackabilly standards), just on the wave of rockabilly/garage that didn't get as much press. It's good music, though. If we're talking rockabilly/garage mixes, you can't mess with the Cramps.

Great Choices! I got a bootleg of the MC5's unreleased DVD and they're the best live band ever, unfortunately noone's gonna know as long as Wayne keeps the DVD from coming out. The Sonics are amazing. Back from the Grave are my favorite comps, good music for the era without going too far into psychadelia like the nuggets comps do.

As for Rockabilly in the garage, I'm ***uming you have the standard 'every record Sun put out in the 50s' set. If not, you need it. Jerry Lee/Carl Perkins/Charlie Feathers/Early Elvis pretty much defined this genre. Other artists from this era worth checking out are Gene Vincent (wrote a hotrod song called 'Race with the Devil' which should be played constantly in any respectable hotrod), Eddie Cochran, and Al Ferrier. There's also the more honky-tonk guys, such as Jerry Reed and Dave Dudley who wrote great songs. And then there's the ones who are around today, which people have mostly hit on already, though I'd like to add The Lengendary Shack Shakers. Good music.
