This isn't for a specific job, I've got several in mind, but in general I want to organize wires and cables on the exterior of 1940's-1950's steering columns. I'm looking for something like this:
    s-l1600.jpg
But big enough to wrap around an old school steering column. They might be black, zinc, or chrome, but are springy so the snap on and off (unlike cutting something out of sheet metal). I know they're out there, but can't seem to Google it. I've found them 1/2" up to 1", but I'm looking for sizes between 1 1/2" and 2".

While reading this post, I had this vintage flashlight and clip sitting on a shelf in front of me. Similar 1 1/2" . How about searching for bicycle ***esories? I think I have one of those stashed somewhere. DSC00448.JPG

I have one on my heap. I got it from ebay. It was advertised to be from a wartime Willys Jeep. I believe they were also used on the early 50"s Dodge trucks also.

I know you can use ABS plastic pipe, a hacksaw and a heatgun to fabricate them. Just depends how particular you are with authenticity.

That one is close at 1 1/8". The one I pictured is from a Harley. The few I've found have been too small and often they don't list them by their size or function, but rather just that it's a "Harley cable clip" or something or it's by the part number so you just have to know.

Getting close. These guys sell NOS ones that fit 1 1/2", but $27 seems a bit much unless I was restoring a WW2 jeep.

I could swear I have one or two somewhere for the 53' ford F-100, but not finding anything online.

I added a NOS aftermarket lamp to the shift selector on my 53' Chevy sedan and it came with it's own clip for the wire. I would think stuff like this would be easier to find for the old aftermarket repairs like the external turn signals and horn ****ons.

Yep there's lots of ways to do it. If I was going to spend any time making them I would bend them out of spring stock so they last. I'm a believer in buying what I can first though so I have enough time to make the things I can't buy.

I bought one a few years ago off ebay but when it arrived it was in a box marked CMA Trucks, I checked their web site but they don't have any in stock, but they are called

Looks like Harley cable clips are close. "Colony Wire/Cable Clip - 2450-1" This looks close to 1 1/2" diameter. Colony seems to have a few sizes.

GM used ones like that to locate the wire cover for turn signal wiring. Try eBay maybe. Are Chevy of the 40,s

Look on the internet for GM starter solenoid wire clips. Mid 60's cars.
Several types like pictured, as well as one that has a "O" ring attached.
