I am terrified that the red pearl might turn it pink. It's my wife's car, but she wouldn't even go for a pink car.

Root....the pearl you are looking for is called flip flop, or interference pearl. It will look white, until the light hits it right, then it will reflect red. It won't turn the car pink, it's not even a true 'color'. It just reflects other colors. There are other pearls that are colored flakes, that go over white, but turn the color you chose, but have a satin-y glow. That is NOT what you want, and the first coat or 2 of them will make your car look pinkish, until you get enough of the pearl on it for full color saturation.
If you want to try some, I have some red pearl powder you can try out. I can mail you a small amount, enough for test panels. PM me your address.

Thanks for the offer, but I don't want to deplete your stash. Just post the info for buying and I'll get some.

Chopolds has the right suggestion....I will say the Cadilllac white diamond is a nice pearl, but what he’s sugggestion with the flip flop pearl is really cool and Kustom! Also it’s not really different from spraying a “normal” pearl other than you need enough of it on the surface to get the proper effect. To me the red and blue pearls look the best.

Hey, I'd send you about a teas**** of the powder in an envelope. I've got ounces of it, wouldn't deplete it at all. BTW, a tsp. of it in a gunful of clear will paint a whole motorcycle, you don't need a lot. Darker colors need less than lighter ones, but it would be more than enough for you to try, and see if you like it. And enough to experiment with how much intensity you'd want the final outcome to be.
Now my 1 Lb jar of Murano red pearl, that's another story!

Only if it's illegal or hazardous :D. I get powders and metal flake through the USPS all the time. Just be sure it's wrapped well (double baggies and some collapsibles for padding).

For a stock OEM like pearl color the new Chevy pu's have something close.

So, I am still reworking the body on the 55. Uncovering past sins of the previous oner and welding and filling holes, so I am not ready for the pearl yet, but I still have questions.

How do you know how much to add to your intercoat clear and do you use the brightest white you can get or just pick a non metallic with the same tone you are after?

I am terrified of tiger striping this dude. It would have to be an overall job. I really doubt you could piece paint it and have it match.
