  1. Many members run with Facet. I may be using a cube pump as well from them. I think they are part of Puralator now. Is that good or bad????

I think that is the regulator I am going to go with. I don’t have the pump nailed down yet. I’m also researching the pump/regulator mounting location options. Passenger side frame rail sounds good except for the proximity to my header/exhaust.

  4. TM found that pic of the water pump. Looks like a box is tabbed that bolts to the block and the pump bolts to the front. Neat conversion. Thought u might like to see it. 20210203_134615.jpeg

Here’s a pic of my hack job rear leaf spreader. I haven’t tried it yet. I may have to do some mods as I go. IMG_5248.JPG

Last time I needed mine, I couldn't remember where I put it so I just mounted the main leaf and then added the rest with a C clamp.

I did reenforce my hack job spreader. It worked perfectly taking out the old spring pack. I swapped out the main leaf, removed the #2 leaf and the top 3 (no, I didn’t chop any of them up this time). I greased, clamped, and bolted the pack back together and attempted to reinstall it. I tried to cut some corners on the process. I bolted the springs back in the crossmember, placed wooden blocks on the axle, and jacked the axle up. I got one shackle in but the other was far from going in. I wrestled with it for too long and then realized I had to revert back to the spreader process. I should have done that in the first place. I called it quits for tonight. I’ll hit it fresh either tomorrow or this weekend. IMG_5251.JPG IMG_5253.JPG IMG_5255.JPG IMG_5256.JPG

Did the coupe ride too rough before? If not, why remove all those leaves?

I hope it works for you. You seem to have forgotten what happened on the front when you removed too many leaves.

Way back in the #400's posts I recommended a T spring if you wanted to get low. That's what Dr. Dave did in his sedan. I kinda figured when you went with an A that you didn't want to get too low.

Alchemy, I always appreciate your advice and recommendations. I do a lot of reading, calling around, and posting my questions to this thread to try to get the best information I can as I move along. Maybe I should have gone with the T spring. I definitely like the look of a lowered Model A and that is what I am shooting for. I took your advice and called up the guys at Millworks to get their recommendation and went with a Model A reverse eye. I ended up only taking two leaves off the top and removing the #2 leaf. This was more conservative than what was recommended by the guys at Millworks. I may do more ‘adjusting’ sometime in the future.

  17. Between the change to 16 inch wheels, the taller tires and the T spring, the tail of mine came down a total of 2 inches from stock. Mostly, I wanted the nose down a bunch, the tail down a little and the rear fenders filled up with tire...shooting for an Early Times club kinda look.

I got my header, intake, 81 stromberg, and fuel pump and regulator over the past few days. I just ordered the parts to run the new fuel lines. Doing lots of research of how to mount the pump and run the fuel lines. I’ve also been going back through things like the brakes and wheel bearings. Greasing everything that I can find that can take grease. The weather here has been pretty bad lately. Lots of snow and it’s pretty cold so I have been doing lots of reading and research. One of the most fun things I’ve done with the car lately is to get the old Ahooga horn working. It didn’t work when I got the car. I took it all apart and with the help of my books and YouTube it is now working. I mounted it under the hood. Really fun to have that back as part of ‘Pappy’s’ character.

  20. Mount that electric fuel pump on isolators so it doesn't telegraph more noise into the body.

When I saw that I hadn't read all the way to the end and that you'd already made and used your spring spreader I deleted my post, but you'd already responded. So I'll repost for anyone who didn't see it in the 2-3 minutes it actually existed.

    ===============================================================

Here are all the spring spreader pix I've saved over the years; maybe something in here will give you an idea or two:

Atch - No problem. Fun to see the different solutions. Now you can add my hack job spreader to your repository.

    Already did.

b-t-w; most of the ones I posted are for "spring behind axle" setups. You were clever in making yours for the "spring over axle" setup.

So far I haven’t run across any choke linkage solutions or examples. The carb has the ball mount for the a choke linkage. I haven’t called Stromberg again but I did talk to Victor at Red’s Headers (where I purchased the carburetor) and he didn’t know but said he would look into it.

You guys have any ideas or recommendations for Stromberg 81 choke linkage? What do you guys use?

  30. there is a cable end available for the ball. I think Speedway has them.
