Any recommendations where to source a good radiator? (besides Bratton’s $530). I had mine checked out and the shop said they couldn’t fix it.
I looked on line and saw a lot of options but not sure which ones actually fit.

Your shell on the roadster is a '30.

Thanks Tony. I picked up a 31 grill shell from Mantua John.

  6. ....Did they give you a reason why they couldn't re-core your old radiator?...Just curious. It might even cost as much as a new one, but still curious as to why.

Yeah. Stines Radiator in Hagerstown just said they couldn’t fix it and a new one would be cheaper than the cost of a re-core.
I really don’t want a new one. I’d like to find a good used one. I think that would go better with the original barn find look.

Mine, too. But he's shut down now. Tried to contact him a couple of years ago.

  12. It's getting more and more difficult to find a radiator shop.

Found a used radiator that looks to be in good shape. I guess I’ll know when I try to use it. Thanks for all of your recommendations.

I know it’s hard to make out what I am doing in this pic. I had to heat and ‘re-bend’ my 32 spindles on my drop axle to get them to line up for my tie rod and drag link. D85E26B1-C0C4-4AEF-9DF0-375AB9DABF80.jpeg

During drop axle assembly/mock up I discovered that my brake actuator arms wouldn’t line up with the cup on my king pins and the spring perch tabs I had. I ended up cutting the tabs off, grinding them a little shorter and tacking them in place once I bolted the arm in place and aligned it with the cup. Then I did my normal weld the $hit out of them technique. I think they are good now. BD7FBD41-818A-47FF-9053-6D608BBD71CD.jpeg

Anyone know the trick to getting new dust caps on the backing plate brake adjusting wedge?

I somehow managed to get them on my coupe backing plates but not without a lot of cussing and random attempts with every tool I own. Now I’m rebuilding the backing plates for the roadster and I am dreading this step.

Each of my 16” rims were different colors. Or were… they are very rusty.

I talked my artist wife into making them all one color but not perfect. They need to look the part. I chose to go with the one that was almond color.

You guys know how impatient I am. I finished the backing plates while the wheels were drying in the sun. As soon as they were dry enough I stuck the front ‘dirt track’ tires on my ‘new’ rims. I couldn’t wait to see the stance with the drop axle. I’m very happy with how it turned out. 71BC6677-9BBB-4767-8A40-5FA824617D95.jpeg DE493E8D-76E5-4E57-B2F8-BD8F05A5184E.jpeg

Worked on brake linkage and initial adjustments. Long way to go with that. Discovered I still need one brake rod. I thought I had four good ones but it turns out one has the clevis welded in place.

Finally started working on the body. Began removing the rusted out floor pans. Found the sub rails are in worse shape than I expected.
