Well, I have been anxious to post the finished photos of my ride, but I guess shit happens and we never really finish. The only thing I REALLY need to do is set the speedo and put that trim ring on the gauge bucket. This might be as close as she gets, I'm ready to start working on the chopped merc, and get some miles on this one. Started the project almost 2 years ago, many LATE hours here in the end, I picked too many exotic components for my own good, I got what I wanted, exactly, so that is what matters. I'm sure there will be some criticism of the shit I used, so to each his own. The one exception I really made was the rear suspension, I tried for a month solid to get the rear spring to work right without using an 'A' spring, finally gave up, cut it all out and went with the double adjustable coilovers. The ride is terrific though, so I guess it paid off in the end.

I started with a 4-bolt 400 SBC - 30 over - Clay Smith special grind cam which I rebuilt for the car, built a frame, bought a cab, and kept on going. Went with the TWM fuel injection mainly cuz I just wanted to drive the damn thing - not dick with it after I was done. Sprayed the inside of the cab with Lizard Skin to try and keep some of the heat down.

Tilton hanging nascar pedal set, schroeder steering gear, and bomber seats from eBay. made the supports, dash, arm rest, tach cup, and everything else you see. -cept the quickchange, got the center section on the bay and had it freshened up by the boys at the hotrodshop - great guys BTW. In front of that I used a Tremec TKO 5-speed.

I gotta say, I had not heard of the HAMB going into all this, but could never have gotten by without it, so many awesome topics and awesome folks, you guys kept the inspiration coming - ain't nuthin like it around!

My biggest thanks have gotta go out to Mr. Rick - Man, you made me think and re-think every decision I made, had you not been around I would not be driving it. Many thanks also to the guys out at Sachse Rod Shop - I know you guys will miss Ricky, Clay Cook for milling out the air cleaners, bu7an3 for not commenting on the short work days, Neil Young for the thought, and my girls & wifey most of all who put up with endless nights at the shop.

James Crawford has done all the striping in my shop, many thanks to him again for the great jobs he has done for me, just damn amazing. He finished the day of working by striping my girl's wagon:

That is one of the nicest hot rods I've seen in a while. There isn't one thing that should be changed on that car. You followed what was in your mind and that car is awsome. I hope you keep building cars like this and posting them.

For lack of better words, ^^^^^^ badassedest truck I've seen in a long time. Your detail is the shit. I'm soooooo elated to see someone build a "RAT" type truck but really "BUILD" it. Details are where its at. Thats what makes the jaws drop and the oogles begin.

Are those drilled pennies for washers on your dash? If so what year? or Is it various. I love the shift boot and floor plate, and so much more. Very complete thought out and just plain TITS!

Good job, I can't wait to see this in a mag.

So far about half the washers are just plain copper washers, the rest are drilled pennies, I got in a hurry to get the dash on so I could drive and tune it, I gotta go in and finish working the pennies on the mill - not an easy task, but soon they all will be done.
I took the copper thing as far as I could before it got hokey. I milled the end caps for the frame from copper bars, the shift knob, and various other parts also follow suit.
The center gauge is a clean / simple haneline 5-in-1 gauge in an old chevy bucket. Thanks for the comments, good to see all the work appreciated from the outside.

  13. Are you taking that thing to MoKan? I'd love to see it in person.

Man that thing kicks major butt, I love the interior designs, seats, electronic speedo in the headlight casing and i assume leather around shifter and floor. Aircraft bucket seats are awesome also. Good stance, love the arm deal, very freaking kewl, Like to see Boyd do some bad ass shit like that.

That truck is bitchin! I am so jealous. I knew somehow that it had to be from Texas to be that cool. This is one of those cars that will somehow alter the course of my own project. I just figured out that that's leather on the dash and that banana seat has me slapping my forehead. Keep doin' what you do. It works. Thanks for sharing!

Folks could learn a thing or 20 from this truck. It has the rough, ratty look, BUT, the details and components used and obvious craftsmanship separate this from a typical ass draggin' RAT ROD.

    Oh yeah, cool banana seat!

I was wondering if you had any pictures of the bearclaw install in your doors??? - I see the striker on the post. Do you still have the window channel in your doors-or did you take it out to put the bearclaws in???
