The two blown flathead powered cars both broke on their first run. One threw oil and had a small fire and the other blew a head gasket and lost oil pressure. The blown st 8 coupe kept throwing blower belts. If you haven't been to Loring you can't believe how wide, long and smooth it is.compared to Maxton. Also how nice the weather is in mid July.
It was good to see you and the boys, Conrad. When will your car be ready? See you in Maxton in October.
The yellow Stude was driven 800 miles from Canada towing a trailer. I was told it got 20 MPG and ran in excess of 170 MPH
Not the same Warner that was a Harley team rider. Bill is has a fish farm on the west coast of Florida. He is pure amateur with no big sponsors. He and Walt Kudron put the effort together 2 years ago. The machine was basically built in his garage.
He wasn't allowed to go over 175 without roof rails. I can't remember his exact number, 150's I think. Last I talked to him he was pulling the motor. He is a member here.
McKee, Glad to have met you at the Atlantic Nationals. We had a great time at both the Atlantic Nationals and Loring. The car would only go 153 as we were way down on power. The motor is in pieces and should be ready for the Sept 17-18th races. Have fun and go wicked fast. Mark
Marcia, We are still not sure of when we are leaving as Michael will be in school and really wants to go but I do not want him to miss any time. Trying to be a responsible parent ****s!!!! I think Rodney and I will be leaving Friday morning. Can you save us a space in the middle row? Do you know of anyone going up Friday afternoon with space for an excited teenager? Mark
Thread KILLER, That sure sounds about right I post and get no response ..... Thanks Marcia Looking forward to another great weekend on 2.5 miles of concrete and hot top. Mark
Only 40 are pre-registered! That sounds great to me Should be able to take a few slow runs and make sure the motor is ready and still have time to twist the snot out of it later in the day. Rodney, Michael and I should arrive a little after noon provided the old trucks make it there. Hopefully the rain will stop before we arrive. Mark
We didn't exactly do hot laps....lost a pushrod Saterday afternoon. Note the long line in staging in the background.
