He had the tops off both carbs. One needed the float adjustment the other carb had the worn accelerator pump. Both carbs were clean inside.

My carbs were clean inside too. The obstruction was where the fuel fitting threads into the carb...it was glue from an inline filter in my trunk that failed...first when I took off the filter and drained it, I then shook it and it sounded like a rattle. I replaced that and my car ran great till I put it away for the season. Next Spring it ran good for awhile and started bogging down again...I chased many things, plugs, timing, wires, carb inards, float adjustment...nope nada any of those...turned out pieces of that glue were sucked and pumped through the mechanical fuel pump...through the dial regulator, the fuel block right to the inlets are to the needle valves...both had chunks of glue bouncing around and causing bogging and loss of power. I was pretty excited and shaking my head at the same time as I picked the small pieces out with tweezers...

I have barbed fuel fittings that I push neoprene hoses onto so if I didn't screw them out I'd never have fiqured it out...

The small openings for the needle valve actually prevented the shit from going any further...

The initial thing was my dislodged filter was bouncing around and the pull from the pump sucked it against the fuel opening in the filter at speed and starved my carbs and I'd litterally end up on the side of the road and stall and I'd get it running again...somtimes I'd limp home other times the filter would move and it ran fine again...never had an issue since...

Note my inline filter was chrome, not transparent.

It was a Hamber that said to check the filter...drain and shake...so yeah if your filter has become unglued replace and suspect glue has made its way towards your carbs...it could be choking your system anywhere between...if its moving it may make it intermittent...

I'm just expanding on Cob's and others recommendations...

I wonder if the condenser is your issue.

That's what I was going to say. As Stogy alluded to.
The obstruction could be in the fuel line. Then it would affect both carbs. Could be anywhere, from the outlet at the tank to the carburetors.

So did your friend that worked on the carbs fix it for good, or it's still happening? You mentioned he couldn't reproduce the symptoms.

First thing I would do is make it happen again, then as soon as it dies, work the linkage and see if the pumps squirt to determine if the bowl is getting fuel. Can also pull pump fuse, and rig a gas can straight to the carb to rule out that system. Then look at the electrical advice given above.

I tried to make it happen again. Before it always started acting up after the first 10-15 minutes. After the carbs got buttoned up I took it out and drive it for about 20 minutes came home, never turned it off and let it sit in the driveway running for around another 10 minutes and it was running just fine with no problems.
