I agree get rid of your avatar it will not help to keep it. There is only two ways to get rid of FNG one is 50 posts or 50 bucks to become an Alliance Member.. It is your choice. :D

Can't you fly your invisible jet,and park it in front of your rank so no one knows what level you are ?

  9. Ha! Great responses! I surfed this site awhile before dropping the $50 for Alliance membership but must admit it was money very well spent, I'd encourage anyone interested in pre '64 cars and the culture to join in.

But Archie, please take the advice of previous posters- leave the Wonder Woman stuff to Linda Carter, she looks much nicer!:)

I do have a related question regarding the tags some members (and non-members) have. I looked around but couldn't find definitions. What is the significance and how are the tags earned? (I say earned rather than assigned, is this correct?) "Senior member", "Grenade Inspector", "Newbie", etc. There are others. I got mine (Alliance Member) by singing up. But how the others?

  10. they are all the same , only different colors for different years , "Senior member", "Grenade Inspector", "Newbie", are usually not alliance members although the tag can be changed in your preferances and show with your avatar as you wish.. so thats not to say that some are not alliance members .. viva the alliance..

I've been a FNG since 2006. Couldn't care less about moving up.
My main purpose is to come on board and LISTEN.
Nothing wrong with wanting to move up in the HAMB world though.
I think it's great you wanting to be involved.
    I don't gauge Qualification by a rank.
I gauge a person's Qualification by their Knowledge, wisdom, and
character of their posts. But MAINLY the cars they have built.
I thank the HAMB members for their help they have given me,
that greatly helped me in building two ground-up HOTRODs.
    good luck on your endeavors.

I joined the Alliance. Figured if I was using this as a constant resource, I should support the forum.

Dont worry about the tag dude. There are some real skilled and tallented people on here and there are some real wannabe dumbasses as well.I dont even look at tags myself ,except when im doing business with someone where cash is involved. As my dad use to say "stupidity knows no age" ...

  17. ????? Holy shit dude !! Please tell us the cat in the avatar pic isn't you !! Cause if it is you are going to be fucking new guy for along time >>>>.

must have gotten enough responses about FNG acronym to change it to NEWBIE. That cat must be gunning for dogs or something, what would you do if cats could be trained to shoot an AK?

  19. Here is how much the tag FNG means. Don Garlits is a FNG on the HAMB.

The tags are not about how much you know or how much you've accomplished....they are about how much you talk.

I don't care about the tag,

    BUT

I was PROUD when I became an Alliance MEMBER...

At the time I applied I didn't know what I was doing

I just wanted to save money on some rims from kikinrod (?) out of TX.

Got a surprise after I paid my dues and received a discount and a dash tag

Dayum...you just step outta the closet...??? And what's that funny sign you got hanging around your neck...oh, ain't been here long, eh...???

When I was but about 12 or so years old (and that's been a mighty long time ago), my Dad gave me three pieces of advice: Look, Listen and Learn from it all...his advice still works today. The FNG tag will eventually go away.

    Truer words...
A person who has 10,000+ posts and posting an average of ten times a day or better has just as much likelihood of being a douchebag gadfly as being a jam-up fabricator or general all around hot rodder. Having a lot of posts means you have a lot of posts, that's about it.

You must be the only one that really cares about the moniker. I don't think anyone really cares, I know I don't. The number of posts doesn't make you a hot rodder or gear head, it just means that you spend a lot of time behind the keyboard.

I asked the same question about 'newbie'. Once you pass 50 posts your status changes or as others have stated, join the Alliance.

Well I have Moderator under my name and quite a few people totally ignore my suggestions and guidance to them.

Only after their stuff gets deleted does my PM envelope blink wondering what happened.

Some days I feel (and look) like the late Rodney Dangerfield.

I still have fun anyway !

Don't sweat the FNG / Newbie title kid.

Just contribute quality instead of quanity.
