Our Car Club just took another hit. We lost 2 brothers in the last year to heart attacks, Mustang GT-Brad and Cuda Neil, both in their mid-fifties. Man this ****s. Ya, both of their cars were OT, but these guys loved all cars. Bummer.
Sorry to hear that, but I'll add my own "dodged a bullet" story in the hopes that others might benefit. I'm only in my early 50s and had no symptoms at all of any problems. I had even walked the complete Fall Carlisle and Hershey swaps (one day each) in Oct 09. Following a stress test for a minor heart flutter problem (I had avoided a thorough checkup for about 10 years prior to that), the doctor said that there might be some blockage and to have further testing. I had a cardiac catheterization on a Monday, and two days later I was having quintuple (yes five) byp*** surgery. Fortunately they found the blockage (between 80% and nearly 100% in all five arteries) before a heart attack, but all I can say is that I was very lucky. Moral of the story - get a thorough checkup, more frequently as we get older. Had I put this off another year, there's a good chance I wouldn't be here today.
