I have this vintage Lotus fuel injection that is suppose to be mid 60's Experimental Nascar for an sbf. I wish to consult the unlimited wisdom of fellow hambers that can offer any further information on this piece. I would really like to run it in this 34 5 window.
The only thing that i know about it is that it looks cool and I want one. Where did you happen across this?
What Lotus used on the SBF Lotus 30 and Lotus 40 was the TJ or Teclament Jackson mech fuel injection. They had a setup for the Lotus Twincam 4cyl as well and I came really close to buying one, once. I got talked out of it, because a lot of racecars with that setup on it burned down...
There was one floating around in Texas, I talked to Forristall's ( Sp ) in Texas about it a couple of years ago. ( they had it for sale at the time ) Is that the one you have?
This has the jackson fuel regulator. It has Lotus cast in the bottom if the intake under the regulator.
I do not think so, my friend has had this for years and it was passed on to me if I was goinf to use it. Without the rest, the only option is to convert it to modern.
If I had that injector and wanted to run it, I might send it to Kinser. They can update it to any level you like. $$$$. I had a set of the T & J injectors. 2/3s of it would up on a Studebaker powered sprint car. I put 1/2 of a 331 Hilborn set on my Lotus 907
It would not be difficult at all to make that an EFI setup and keep it looking close to original. The original mechanical injection system is very similar to the CIS system vw used in the late 70's. I would go efi in a heartbeat with it but definitely keep it looking original.
Have already consulted to convert to EFI while preserving the original look. Looks like the route I will take. I suppose I was fishing for approval. Appreciate the info guys. Keep it coming it is truly a unique piece and your opinions matter.
