First off, want to start off by saying that it was a true honor to have worked on this Historical roadster that originated from San Diego. I am a native and love our San Diego Hot rod history. Long story short, we got Lous old roadster back up to par, got lou in a fire suit and off he went down the salt bed. He hadn’t raced since 1969. It was so epic to see his smile after the pass. Our friend, a photographer tried to recreate one his old pics as well. My friend jimmy and I also had the honor to drive this car for our first rookies pass out at bonneville.
Hey Tim, Any chance you could email me this video of us pushing Lou off? I’d like to give it to Lou. Speedweek was pretty crazy the couple days we got to run Didn’t get very many photos/videos of this. Thanks, Jimmy Grigg.jamesR@gmail.com
The Boy inside a Man...It never gets old...No Stranger to Hotrod that fella is he's had some beautiful Rides... He didn't have to raise the roof on this one......Hopefully he gets another run in next year with better salt...How fast did he get? Rock On Lou... Thanks for sharing and helping make this come together... @jamesd1502
Lou is actually on Fordbarn......correction...Garage Journal......he can just log in on the Hamb or visit...that would be kinda special...I would be surprised if he doesn't already...send him a link to the thread that would be easier... I'm sure he has like minded company here...
Lou should visit and say hello... These fellas are pretty darn humble, many are amongst the crowd here, but they truly paved and lived what we revere around here...I'm thinking of a super cool pic of Lou back in the day... Hey Mctim your actually working your way into Hotrod History...ya got salt in your veins with records just on the horizon powered by your engines of choice of course... Credit to Photographer, Owner
Lou did not go very fast. 80ish mph. Our goal was a fun , safe drive and a smile from him. I think we did an ok job of it.
Wow!... So Cool !! Thanks for sharing such a great experience! Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
I met Lou this year at Bonneville with his friend Thomas. Sadly I could not stay to see the Roadster run.
