I want to find the loudest horn possible from a salvage yard. What makes or models have loud 12v horns?

Long old Buick horns....from the 30s and 40s. Find them in the swap meet for $5-20, they are LOUD.

  3. Merc 'S' class. Ford Tempo/Topaz, surprisingly loud. Big Citroën usually have air horns, in addition to electric.

Yep, Caddys have serous horns. The late 80's Devilles that seem to be in every junk yard have four horns. Two under each front fender on the inside.
76/80 Seville has a tripple horn setup under the right front fender that will get anyone's attention. If you are cheap and lazy HF has air horns on sale with the little compressor quite often for ten bucks or under. Loud but not a real authoritative sound.

  7. tri-tones from a mid 80's caddy. I learned all my good swear words from my mom right after the horn blew.

  8. The Harbor Freight one doesn't seem any louder to me, and sounds like it should be on a Jaguar or something. I figure to hit an 80's Caddy for horns when I get there on the '50.

  9. 6 volt Cadillac hooked to a 12 volt battery.

  10. Why screw around, go to a truck boneyard and get the horns and compressor off a semi. Thats pretty damn loud !!! Boat or marine style horns are also quite loud.
