On a recent post, someone posted the attached picture and I noticed the painted, louvered battery box. I love this thing since it hides the ugly battery and blends in with the engine compartment. I've seen plain aluminum or stainless boxes, but does anyone make a louvered one like this or do I need to make/modify one? Reason I'm asking is because I don't know anyone with a louver press around here.
I don't know of a ready made louvered battery box. If you make one, send me the flat face or faces you want louvered and I'll punch it/them and send back. Needs to be 18 or 20 ga. material, I can't punch 16 ga. Given import duties into Canada, can you send Canadian goods out and get it back duty-free? Charlie
49, I made hundreds of those for 25 years under the name "Classic Fabrication Inc "along with about 50 other parts for the Tri-Fives until my health gave out. I think Danchuck,Classic Chevy and a few others sell them for the tri-fives.Call Danchuck and ask how to get in touch with Dale Kessee. They get some of my old parts from him. He has someone else make them now or off shore and he may get something made for you. Hope this helps. TOM ( Tired Old Man)
Thanks guys. Charlie, MI is not that far from Ontario, so I might take you up on that offer if I can't find one. I can't see any louvered boxes on the Classic Chevy site, but I'll contact them tomorrow.
