I was going to suggest paint the bottom to match the top, get rid of orange belt line.
But then I saw post 57............

Oldolds pretty much sums it up in my thinking. Make the changes you want to make of all those suggested and make it your own. Paint sure as hell isn't going to get any cheaper, unless money is not a issue I would wait. Picking a color can drive you nuts. Seems like it depends on what day it is and which way the wind is blowing.

Just drive it as is. You have already paid for the current paint job. Maybe when it has achieved patina, it will be more hamb friendly.

The truck has way too much going on. It's like a Nice looking Woman that doesn't know how to dress and over accessorized herself. Spent a mint on clothes and makeup, but would look much better in jeans and a blouse. Lots of potential.

The light colored roof combined with the dark lower and super low stance, visually make the roof look higher. The same optical happens when chopped cars have light paint, especially combined with dark lower paint.

Well you wanted a black truck and don't like this color, so you have to bake that $ factor into the purchase same as you would if it needed an engine, etc.
Drive it and start saving. You need money. Work o/t, side work or a part time job. Sell off extra parts, etc. you don't need, or one of those other cars in the pic. Smart ***es commenting, "I see your Wife let you drive her truck" will really motivate you.

The other paint option is to find a trade school or fellow Rodder/painter that will shoot it on the side or at their house. Cash plus some labor trade? What skills do you have? Maybe take a shot at painting? Possibly start by taking a vocational night cl***. Your first cl*** project will be to start with a clean set of hood sides (the truck needs them) and a quart of black and have at it. All you can do is screw it up. If it works out well, you've got a grille, hood top and four fenders to bring in to cl***. Then all that's left is the cab and bed to shoot at home or drive the stripped Hiboy into cl***.

Meanwhile, you're on the right track in changing out the head and taillights, roll pan.
Deep six the spare. Relocate that "arm" filler neck to the bed floor.
Rolling stock; trade it to a someone with a late 30's/early 40's Ford p***enger car for a set of 5 spokes, etc. Maybe turn the wide whites facing in?

    Saaayyyyy!...that's a mighty nice pink truck you've got there!:D;)

    Sorry about that...I couldn't resist.

The truck looks like a quality build. I do think it would look better if it were one color. I also think black walls instead of white walls would help pull it together regardless of what color it is. Good luck with whatever direction you decide to go with it, but in the meantime drive it like you stole it!

I'm considering wrapping a loaded big block muscle car over a "special" order paint no one seems interested in (it's for sale).

I also have a truck that woman love & guys snicker but it will stay like it is. My late wife picked the colors but cancer prevailed before it was finished. The interior is "Red Hat Society" red.

I like WWW on some vehicles if it fits the theme, black walls on others.

In any case, if it's black it's got too be absolutely straight.

P.S. My avatar is "maroon", the truck is not! P.P.S. Nice truck.

If you really don't like the color a wrap seems like a good option. I will run for cover now also, Gary;)

No one mentioned the ducks foots cutouts, I would use angled tips right under the running board, I can't see how you wouldn't bust and ankle by accident or someone at a show.
As far as the color, currently is is free.
Drive it and Enjoy it and save up. It seems these truck don't have enough chrome to pop with black (you'd a pop color on the wheels), a black one would seem so boring next to that pinkish/maroon color.

  9. $15 HF gun
$100 worth of semi gloss black enamel
    or
paint the top pearl white and have fun
that truck has a nice vibe, just a bad top color

  10. Paint it all to match the top color. That raspberry is too '90's for me. That top color w/an orange pinstripe & wheels would rock it for me!! Black would be cool but it's been done before. Sweet truck regardless

Drive It, Enjoy It, you might change your mind on changes as time p***es. I think it looks good as is and it is unique, which IMO is good. These opinion polls always are the same, let's all be the same, Blah, Blah, Blah Blah, Individuality is a good thing and what Hot Rodding is all about IMO. Paint is the most expensive part of a build, changing colors today is outrageous $$$ today unless you can do it yourself. Just a suggestion, Enjoy the hobby and Do Not worry about the HAMB approval. Good Luck ! Have Fun ! Be Safe !

In case you wanted to see it as single tone here it is...I'm not too excited about it. If you want to see any other color combos for future reference let me know and we can try to take a look.

Well, If he had the two colors at hand to work with he'd probably tear up his business card.. no offense..

Total repaint or nothing imo.. I know its getting hacky but a scuff 'n squirt in colored primer would be preferable to moving forward w/whats on it.. or better yet if you don't want to do full paint prep the body properly, epoxy seal so you can drive in primer, then color prime it.... If you did eventually paint it and the job failed you'd still be fun points ahead.. imo

the bottom color of that truck is cool
paint the top pearl and add scallops that match the bottom
then add the pearl white scallops on the bottom

The only opinion that matters is yours. It wouldn't take much to prepare it for paint which is a large part of the costs in many cases.

That said, I'd paint it all the same color as the bottom. I like the color.

Looks better like that though. But the chrome on the wheels with the white walls sorta tosses it off.

Thing is, this truck wasn't a "traditional build"...but even as a street rod, it's still a bit confused.

I could NOT drive that truck with a straight face. The Raspberry paint is ........ugly. Maybe if you painted the whole truck with the existing Champagne color it'd be better but damn man! If you want a black truck, make it black!
