Built & raced flatheads in the 50's. We ran our '46 ford coupe in D/gas & then C/altered. It was a real family affair with help from my new wife & brother-in-law. We had more fun then success! Our best time back then with a 267" motor & a 3200 # car was 15.01/92 mph. Still got the wife[54 yrs]still got the brother-in-law[he's still racing with an 11 second 289 falcon] Still got the flathead[now in my street roadster] it grew over the years to 296",& I still "got da bug to go racin". So last year I got a free-be 88 ranger,& an 8BA out of a '51 F2 basket case we bought & turned it into a 304" thumper with lots of tricks, converted 4 pot manifold to 8" hi-rise,ground the block 'till I smelled water, adapted 289 dist.[after changing rotation direction!] to '51 shaft, adding perlux, fabed a windage trey & deep sump pan. The truck got the full treatment, stripped to the bone, replaced glass with lexon, slapped in a straight axle, bike tires up front, turned the mazda 5 spd. into a 4 spd.[what] & adapted it to the flatty, made aluminum plate motor mounts with electric motor driven 409 water pump, plus, plus, plus. Runs pretty good for home grown, best 1/8th mi.time 9.56/73mph. & I'm still learning, but we're having a blast............
Welcome to the H.A.M.B. from Georgia! My truck was suppose to have been raced in the 50's - 60s on the left coast! Love those flatheads!
