Such a very good story. Glad I stopped to read it because at first I thought it was a eulogy for Neil Sedaka or something. My son's '64 98 six window hardtop rides exactly how you described! We were both at an intersection one time, he in the '64 and me in my '69 Delta. We were joking around reving the egnines at each other when I noticed two kids with skateboards standing at the corner waiting for the green walk light. They noticed us and one pointed to my son's '64 with excitement. We both knew what was going to happen when the light turned green. Sure enough, just like at the track, as soon as it turned we both buried our gas pedals. Since both cars were on peg legs, we both left a nice long black streak across the intersection. Looking in the rear view I could see the kids jumping up and down waving their skateboards with excitement. We like to think that we motivated two more gearheads that day for the next generation.
Congrats Hack on your find and awesome story - I think every one has that special "someone", it might be the car they remembered as a kid, getting their cherry popped in, winning that race against the guy that couldn't be beat, or just a good ole car that your buddies had fun in. My secret lost ones are a 68 Delta 88 Holiday Coupe and a 78 Cordoba You do look a lot like 4T64RD in the face (must be a Michigan thing) and thats great you've lost the weight, 290lbs here and need to follow your lead.
Nice story... I want my 66' Parisienne vert' back... Or the 66' Delmont Vert'... or ther 66' GTO Vert'... or the 67' lemans vert... Hell, I want all my old cars back.
I like the new pimpsled Greg, looks like a great match for you. Hopefully I will get to see it this weekend. I would drive the Buick down, so we could pile everyone in our 2 cars and go cruising, but I have some parts to haul, and the truck is alot nicer for that.
Please do! I love that look. As soon as I can afford 15" rubber, I'm going that route with my Camaro.
good on you dude- now....maybe since you shed some pounds you could change your name to the new and improved "low-fat hack"....lol good post dude like the car as well!
Congratulations on the car and the weight loss. Your story was like an automotive "It's A Wonderful Life" and I'm not ashamed to say I got a little misty... I wish I could find an example of my first car. If I do I'll keep it hush hush so you fellas don't kick me outta the club...
Greg- Real cool story,I say change the user name to HACK FAT......You are lookin good man![in a non gay way -BTW].....
Cool car Hack, I'm happy for ya. I have a 71 Ford Van that does the same thing for me, which I still own. Needs a make over, but I don't know if I can tear the orange dead mouse smelling **** out of it. It will see the road again. Young kids when they see it refer to it as the Scooby Doo van. Probably have to paint it Metallic Brown again. You deserve that car.
Hey Greg, I haven't been on here for a while, but when I saw those photos I was impressed, nice job on both counts.
Great story Greg! I always look forward to reading your posts because they are either going to make me fall off my chair laughing or...well you know. My advice;go look up the old girlfriend.I did(after 24 years)and we've been happily married for the last 13. Congrats on shedding the Michelin(s);I wish I could.I'm about 240(again)and need to get down to about 190(again). Your experiences with the 68 Chevelle really hit home.I had one that had electronic gremlins in the wiper motor(long and REALLY complicated).Must have been a bad year for Chevelles. See ya. Ray
WOW---Teeny Weeny Hack!!! You are one FANTASTIC writer. I love the car, the story, and the new look. Just call the cops if Sinkemlow tries to steal your wheels. Better yet, move out of state so he can't find you. Best of luck with everything!!!
