Another sedan delivery I'd have to splatter full of pinstriping.

EDIT: Aw shucks, 2devilles' pics got blocked. Suffice it to say, it was of a pretty slab sided delivery devoid of graphics. I'd pinstripe that abundant canvas.

  6. Ha Ha. There was a Rod and Custom cartoon once of a bunch of guys driving to the salt flats in a slammed 49 Merc sedan. The last seen shows them getting out of the car and all of their butts are ground red and no pants left. I will see if I have that one in my collection.

    Hello,

For a long time, we have been taking weekly road trips down to the coastal beaches to give us some clarity in our lives. We had been living along the coastline since we met each other in college and started our lives together. As long as we were able to see the coast in various locations, it was fine with us and did not have the feeling of being crushed by masses of humanity all around us. The big wide open blue Pacific Ocean was always right there and gave us a great window to the open air feeling.

One of my friends became a dentist. He wanted to move to the beach area, but in his classes, the professors always wanted to aim the graduating students toward a rewarding future. That included working at clinics and then eventually opening their own offices. But, because we all lived along the coast, the information given as to future location of dentist offices was dependent on two factors. Patients and easy access to the office. So, it was a natural for most to be in the middle of cities and communities and have the patients come from all over.

So, what is wrong with a coastal dental practice? One side was full of future patients. The other side was absolutely no patients, unless one had some folks living on sailboats. So, 50 percent of future income was lacking. My friend never got to move to the coastal city of his choice and opened a shop in inland Long beach 15 miles inland, with all folks living around his office location.

Our idea was that he was going to buy a nice luxury automobile and every time we saw this old Lincoln Sedan sitting in a local shop, we always thought of him. When we told him of driving around in a Lincoln, he said that would be nice with his new occupation. But his direction was surprising.

He volunteered to move to a far away Indian Reservation with his new wife and set up shop, government paid, for his dental services. It was his way to give back to those that needed help and support. So, they lived and worked there in Northern California in the barren areas far from any known city close by. “Out in the woods” is a great name for their location.

So, every time we saw the Old Lincoln Sedan in the parking lot, we thought of our friends in the barren areas. In the coastal areas, Lincolns are not normally used as cruisers and custom cars. The base cost is usually high and not all folks like those giant road hogs. But, they do have a great look about them including the famous 4 door opening sedans and convertibles. YRMV
