  4. Great thread fellas, these cars represent a period of American history and culture 296366456_10225115472126446_4344246588226556778_n.jpg that I have been deeply interested in for many years.

    sits great.

  9. This pict is on the money, Sir Guys, Dickies, spit shined shoes, and lowered Chevys. My guess is this is ELA or El Monte around 1958. Thanks Oscar great photo.

this pic only had a description for the car mods
No name or year. And I’m not familiar with the land scape. Real pic? Don’t know
    Looks cool.
Are these type cars more kemp/tail dragger than lowrider? Probably if only thru the perspective of the stereotype
Or just part of the evolution for both customs and lowriders.

  12. Oh good now a photoshops of Jon Fisher's '36 (built in the '90's)that was influenced by Westergard and the Calori Coupe is a lowrider. I guess anything goes in this thread as long as it has lowered suspension.

  13. The picture is of John Fisher's beautiful 36 custom Ford that was built in the last 10 years or so.
In my opinion this represents late 40's custom styling and is not representative of low rider style.

  14. I thought it was suspicious, that’s why I posted and worded it like I did.
the irony is it came from a page that only posts vintage lowrider pics.
The lack of a name and date was out of plane there.
however, that style is part of the custom linage the also includes lowriders.
    my worthless opinion anyway.

the other pics I posted with dates I was able to find another source to verify dates

  15. This is Jon Fisher's 36 Ford Coupe customized by Scott Guildner in the early 1990's John is a member of the "Choppers" Car Club, I worked at Scotts shop when he did Jon's car. It's chopped 4 inches , Lasalle grill, Lasalle headlights frenched into the front fenders, shaved hood doors and trunk, solid hood side panels, lowered in front with dropped axle, in back with parallel leaf springs and lowering blocks, 16 in wheels and flipper full moons, Whitewalls, 41 Ford bumpers and a Midnite Candy Purple paint, so dark, that looks black. I made the club plaque mount on an angle so it matched the back of the car. It is a 40's / 50's Period "Custom Car Design" that were originally 25 / 30 years before "Low Riders" started.

Photo looks like parking lot of Hollywood Park Racetrack. SoFi stadium now.

  17. I’m curious why someone photoshoped the pic that way. It wasn’t represented as fake but the car looked familiar and the pic too perfect to fit this topic that’s why I worded the post like I did.
They chose a nice ride. I’d be proud to be a part of a build like that as well.

Lowrider is just a branch on the same custom car tree.
I don’t think someone woke up one day and just decided to build one without a progression of the style.

  18. Everything is a branch of everything else. Why bother having threads on specific topics if we are just going to lump everything together because it is a branch on the tree?

  19. I’m all for that
But there is a progression from the desire to personalize the automobile from, I guess, the first ones.

Okay, was at a show today and I managed to see my friend. He has changed some items like the hubcaps, added the wood trim, and other items. I did take a close up of the black gauge above the mirror.... it's an ALTIMITER. 20220827_190652_resized[10183].jpg 20220827_190743_resized[10182].jpg 20220827_190922_resized[10181].jpg 20220827_190932_resized[10180].jpg

  26. Love that. Several years ago when I first started on my truck, I was about to fill or smooth the firewall and inner fenders. I got busy building other junk. I’m glad now I didn’t do that. I like that detailed resto look.
